To be fair to the players, it sounded like they hadn't got a clue what they were being asked to do.

You can have the best tools in the world but if the user has no idea how to use them its a waste of them, We have players that do try and want to win but are hampered by a manager who not only likes to tinker but seems clueless as well,

It's early days but why oh why does GB insist on playing systems that
aren't working? I always wonder about the nous of a manager who
can only recruit players from his past team/s.

It's not early days? What would you consider early? One game? half time in game one?

Not happy with the way things are going. Our two strikers MUST get the service they need
    otherwise,like Doyle,they will struggle.

Nearly 15% of this season gone already, plus last season for a head start, it's far from early days.

Casually ignored....he took over 3pts from safety will 33pts at stake.

No honeymoon period, well one game, then loss after loss and relegated with ease.

He took 8pts from 11 games, over season that would be about 35pts.

Most disappointing thing was a third formation in six matches.

And no sign tinkering is working.

That is because it doesn’t matter Jon, it is individual players having pride in not being beaten in their individual battles and working as a team at not being beaten!

Kiwomya said today BEFORE the game that playing three centre halves against three strikers is risky unless your wing backs are tucking in and helping out, because gaps appear either side.

10 minutes in, Kiwomya identified the obvious threat posed by Kirk, who was getting chance after chance and eventually scored.

If Kiwomya can see the gaping holes in Bowyer's tactics today, then I'm afraid there's no defence for those tactics. Kiwomya understands football, but I doubt he'd be getting many managerial posts based on interview, so why is Bowyer not seeing these details in order to prevent easily avoidable tactical flaws?

Maybe because the wing backs didn't do their jobs today? Tactically correct-application complete shite.

For wing backs to be effective, they need pace so begs the question why we are asking players not known for their pace to play that role.

Connor Wood can shift and Mellor has shown a few bursts of pace here and there. But yes we are not a club renowned for our wing backs.

I suspect GB will go to a flat back 4 from now on. Or then again.............

Funny but when we signed those front two me and a few others were called dinosaurs for wanting a flat, very simple 4-4-2....

Be funny to dig up those posts...

Great point there about Kiwomya - I thought the same how he made the point about the centre halves. Then hes proven right ! Andy Kiwomya had a decent career in the professional game and was a player tasked with using his skills to break teams down. So he sees things that perhaps Bowyer doesn't?

By comparison Bowyer has a relative short and unspectacular career. Was a defender and has spent far fewer minutes on the pitch using his skills. He doesn't have "the game savvyness ? of Kiwomya so we are only seeing what Bowyer percieves is he right way to break a team down ?

Is he sending Martin Blockhead (Drury) to scout the opposition ? Because its a fact he has no professional game knowledge to call upon. Between them they are settng up teams to counter their strengths. Rather than saying look this is our strength (The Don and Vaughan) and we are going to play to that and impose ourselves on the opposition ?

I'd say that the lack of time spent actually playing professional football on the pitch shows in Bowyer and Drury as a pair. If Bowyer had Todd alongside or another experienced ex-footballer such as Kiwomya they would have "his ear" and could direct him down the right path that suits the players we have and counters the opposition.

I think Bowyer and Drury as a pair are beginning to be a large part of the problem.

I'd say Drury is the common denominator in all that has gone wrong over the recent past. It's starting to look more and more like a massive error not allowing Bowyer the funds to have his own number 2.

At the Oldham game I thought if this is how it’s gonna be then happy days. Felt the opposite v Forest Green but I think it’s too early to be talking of changing the manager. Aston Villa were miles off in February last season and went up, Leeds were streets ahead in September but failed. Changing it now and we’re in the same position as last year. Sticks a little that Doyle and Hanson are thriving in simple 442s. Personally, I’d give it 10/12 games and if we have lost more than we’ve won then we’ve got an issue, performance is secondary in this league as the aim should be to get out of it.

If we did have a scout who watched Crewe lose 6-1 to Villa in midweek, then a bit of how they played would not have gone amiss.
Obviously we do not have the same qualities but it would be interesting to know what formation was used.
