I've said previously that imo they are not fools and it isn't in their interest to do anything which reduces the value of their investment in buying the club. I've also said that I believe they have, for whatever reason, seriously underestimated the effort and investment needed to get out of Div 1 and into the Championship. I believe they haven't understood how the vast majority of Div 1 clubs (more than three-quarters at the last count) rely on their owners to underwrite the clubs losses in having unsustainable plating budgets. I'm guessing that after two years of ownership and a much better understanding of football finances in the lower leagues, their position will have changed.
I don't for one minute expect them to invest much more of their money into our club so that supporters don't have to find more money from their own pockets. If we want a squad capable of being promotion contenders, we fans have to pay for that privilege otherwise we will be treading water until their concept of the development squad reaches fruition.

ps As an example, Man U have debts of around £500m - a sum very similar to their annual revenues - which appears to be sustainable for them. Applying a similar approach, we should probably be able to sustain a debt around £5mRogered Tart, Aaron Baker and Onside like this. -
Is Reeves that crap player who, even when unfit, was still part of a winning team and then as soon as he became injured showed relegation form?
Hilarious!! After the win at MK Dons, there were punters from Sky, Beeb and Talk Sport - raving about him and that he and Wyke would be targets for daft January bids
Then he got injured. Cared enough about the club to play through the pain barrier and hence couldn't play at his best plus he made the injury worse
Grayson actually mentioned him as a player who he'd been told the side missed - so I think he'd be another reason why he'd stay - if he does of course
But of course he's 'crap' because he hasn't played well for six monthsBoingBoing, Inspector and City-since-67 like this. -
I'm cool with them wanting to do this as it's the proper way to run a footie club, i.e. it's no good running with a deficit you cannot afford to reign in when needed. Solution is to wipe the original debt off and then once you are happy that you're on top of the finances, gamble slightly then. Spectacularly boring and long term - which of course doesn't go down well, but it is similar to what a club like Burnley did, certainly initially. They were very cautious after running into debt in the 80's - this meant 15 years later (i.e. like u) they were one of the view clubs who ran in the black and were openly mocked for their lack of ambition
I think this grown up discussion we're all having about finance is great. I think we can see that there is no 'one way'. It could argued that Town and Millwall both got extremely lucky when they got promoted from L1, which then enabled them to think on. If they hadn't gone up when they had, who knows what cost cutting they might have to do

Until we know the details of why he isn’t staying (unconfirmed), then it would be harsh to vilify the owners. For all we know he may have asked for a new training ground to be built, with full time medical staff and surgeons, £10 million first team budget, flights to all away games with private chef and Club Wembley box for the next 25 years.

If Grayson does go, I’d be happy with Uwe Rosler. Decent bloke, knows the division, had some success. Could do a lot worse. I’d be happy with him, but would prefer Grayson.
