    So would I! Do you know whether there is a January recall clause in the loan agreement with Swindon? Or do we have to wait until Summer 24?

    It certainly has. I have no idea if Young had been keen on the idea of signing for Swindon permanently in January but if he was, I imagine his thoughts about that might now have changed.

    As he sat out Saturdays FA Cup game , I'd be pretty sure there is a recall clause

    Yes, as I say unless something was already agreed on the quiet, I think we will see him back in January. The Aussie owner at Swindon has spend north of £10m so far on buying the club and the stadium back, as well as forking out some big wages. Reckon he's way over shot his means.

    I think all loans these days have a recall clause or a termination clause to cover both clubs if they aren't working out, but it needs to be triggered by a set date which is usually around the middle of the month or middle Monday of the month rings a bell. As the 15th lands on a Monday in the upcoming Jan, I'd imagine decisions will be made by then.

    Believe it or not, it seems we'd have to pay to bring Young back - or at least that's what Flynn seemed to suggest with both Jake and Kemp.

    Therefore recalls are only likely if we're selling for decent money.

    Apologies @Dennis@Dennis, ignore the above. Dont know if it changed in the past year or two, but there was a set date for recalls which seems to have been scrapped. Looking at the EFL regulations and the FA ones too, it's practically the same thing.
    EFL rule:
    56 Standard Loans
    56.1 Subject to the provisions of Regulation 55, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:
    56.1.1 subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season;
    56.1.2 any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the Winter Transfer Window;

    Guidance: The EFL will permit Clubs to amend standard loan agreements to include an early termination clause where this was omitted from the original agreement.

    56.1.3 any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between the Transferor Club, the Transferee Club and the Player but can only be completed: (a) after the expiry of 28 days; and (b) only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 56.1.4 below) unless otherwise agreed by the League in its absolute discretion (subject to such conditions as the League deems appropriate).

    Don't know how relevant the FA ruling is, but:
    If the original Loan agreement contains a pre-agreed recall clause, a Player may be recalled by the loaning Club submitting written confirmation to the borrowing Club, the Competition and The FA. Where no pre-agreed recall clause exists, the cancellation must be agreed between the loaning Club, the borrowing Club and the Player. The loaning Club must submit written confirmation to the borrowing Club, the Competition and The FA. The Competition’s standard cancellation form must be used to prematurely end the Temporary Transfer period. The temporary registration for the borrowing Club will automatically be deemed to be cancelled upon maturity of the temporary transfer period.

    When its all said and done its mainly about 90 mins on the pitch and scoring more than the opposition. Can only blame behind the scenes things for so much....managers given a competeive budget so thats something.

    There is a recall. Jake Young said so about 3 weeks ago...Kemp has one too.

    Might not be the worst thing in the world in my opinion, no fanfare and reinvigoration of expectations - hopefully can get his and Chris's feet under the table and start to make the necessary changes at a more realistic pace.
    Gives them 6 or 7 weeks to assess what they have, keep us in touch of the play-offs and then tweak in January as much as the budget allows (and hoping some releases).
    Hughes, along with Gent (surely now on his way?) and Sparks sign off, have left us in a mess and this isn't going to be rectified overnight - but think the majority of the fan base know this and will get behind the new team if they can see small and steady improvements.
    Good luck to GA and CL, they are probably going to need it

    Yes but he may not want to return so a bit of TLC is required to get him in the right mindset.

    If he refuses then yes, you just do it anyway.

    The FA version doesn't apply in the EFL or the PL. They use their own Regs as agreed by all of their member clubs. The FA version is used elsewhere in the football pyramid particularly in the NL. You've orobably noticed that in the FA version there is no reference to a Transfer Window which is one of the reasons why NL clubs can loan players such as Odusina from the EFL clubs outside of their own transfer window. It's a much freer arrangement.

    Sure I read that there was a recall option in January, Dennis.

    Alexander has the luxury of Chapman nearly back to full fitness and Oliver on his way there.
    And hopefully Pattison won’t be far off. With those included I am sure we have the squad to do better than what we are

    If Tomkinson was brought in to be Crichlows replacement then time for him to step up and get given a go too.
