I can't remember reading a quote from Ryan saying Alexander was his first choice, but if you have a link Ill be happy to apologise, as @Silverbantam says Alexander was his first choice after the Cowleys turned us down https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/graham-out-2024.7745/page-2#post-829630 that's been well documented.
The reason I don't believe Wellens was approached was because both he and Paul Jewell were lined up as manager and DOF until Ryan found Hughes email in his junk box as the story goes

 

I don't mind you're negative posts but your highlighted is about as bad as it can get from a so called Bradford City fan, If you feel the club is not run correctly that is understandable and you can stop watching but don't wish that sort of thing and stop a lots of other fans pleasure watching football.

 

The last 3 people in charge of this team have not improved the team for more than a few games.

Your worse than some on here 10 games in charge : won 4, lost 4, drawn 2,out of those 10 games we played 7 teams that were above us in the league, lets give the guy a chance.

 

His style is, shall I say, agricultural. Great if you are winning but as shown yesterday, pitiful at times. Only one side tried to pass the ball yesterday as shown by the goals Crawley scored. We simply wouldn't be capable of scoring like that.

 

A pretty accurate assessment of GA and how he wants to play the game. Not pretty and lacking style. Not sure how long this club will tolerate that-though RS will have known this before appointing him.

 

Folk need to look at the start of the PP era and did that go smoothly ?????
I am sure GA will get it right if the whole structure is changed but while we have this recruitment team in place then GA will not see out 2024

 

I was obviously annoyed with the result yesterday.
And yes... I lack patience.
But.. GA... It's clueless hoof football. And him continuing to have Derbyshire on the bench when he retired from the game years ago.

 

There were others offered the job ahead of Cowley as well. GA was definitely not no.1 on the list.

 

We said a very similar thing yesterday. Mini improvement under McDonald, mini improvement under Alexander, lasts a few games then it's like the players get comfortable and can't be arsed again!!! First half yesterday was so lacklustre, so far away from what Alexander wants. Exactly same thing after a few games with McDonald....

 

I was told yesterday - by a source very very close to the club - that GA was 4th choice. That just sums up how clueless and arrogant Sparks is. Can't even blame Rupp for that one, as it is clear the guy doesn't even get involved with matters as important as employing a new manager!! You honestly couldn't make it up

 

I understood it that he was only 4th choice because he didn't leave MK until after Hughes was sacked, so realistically couldn't ever have been 1st choice unless Sparks fancied paying for him. I may be wrong, of course. But that's what I heard.

 

That's the problem, isn't it? We have 0 patience and we also have no identity.

What do people want? Hughes played his version of passing football, and everyone hated that. Now under GA we play long ball, but it feels more like the way we play was shoe horned in to fit the players we have vs his actual style.

I'd rather hear an assessment from Fleetwood and Salford fans than MK purely because MK certainly didn't give him long enough.

Parkinson's style was similar and everyone was fine with that.

 

He needs time to bring his own players in, this season was pretty much written off by Hughes and Gents recruitment strategy. GA shouldn't be under any pressure this season, by the start of next season he will have had two transfer windows to try and repair the mess left by Hughes.

I like him and I think he fits us well.
