Well after a decent start, GA seems to reverted to the dreaded HOOOOOOOOOF ball with very little actual football played on the floor.
Today was a continuation from the Crewe game which was nothing but abysmal.
Crawley, like most other teams in this division were nothing special but what they had is something that GA (and MH before him) cannot cope with - pace and break in numbers.
What do we have (or more likely, how do we play?) NOTHING pace wise. Continuous lumping the ball up to Cook who is, on the whole, motionless and shows next to no effort to win the ball.
Never mind though, he does win the odd flick on, so that's OK, he keeps his place every week.
Did anyone really have any confidence that Cook would bury that penalty?? I certainly didn't but yes, we got lucky thanks to their 'keeper.

GA has to buck his ideas up and fast because, let's be honest, once again it's no fun going to VP again (bar the Stockport game)

 

I said when GA came in, he's either going to be here for a few years with a promotion or two under his belt, or he wouldn't be here come the summer. I still feel the same now.

Let's face it, the games are better than under Hughes. However, that doesn't excuse the directionless play we have to sit through. There's no fluidity, no tempo, no joy. Parkinsons hoof ball at least had a plan. It was surrounding Hanson with a striker and two wingers within 20 yards for the header, or take it down and bring in the midfield. This Alexander-ball is so aimless.

Cook isn't going to get any plaudits in this team as there's only so long he can jump for play. After 5 or 6 failed challeges, the arms start going, the shouting begins and the shoulders and attitude drops. With Hanson, he knew that was his job, he knew his role and got on with it. Long ball to Cook isn't going to be as successful. It's scraps at best for our forwards until the last 20 when we bomb crosses in and hope for the best.

As we've seen, it will get some results that go our way. We will win some naff games, it will fall apart in some. I can see us finishing about 12th, with the crowds just dwindling through uninspiring dull football. For me it's now hoping the best for the summer. But if GA doesn't start playing with a plan, I wouldn't be surprised if there is more than a small ripple of noise asking for his head.

Although nothing will change whilst the people running the club are still in place, another manager will have the same issues and it will be rinse and repeat. That being said, you should have to excuse this dull football for that reason.

Alexander has inherited an awful old average squad he’s actually the freshest thing the clubs had for a while, he’s come in to a basket case of a club, arrogant prepubescent CEO and an owner who doesn’t give a flying fk he shown he can get s tune out of a poor squad he needs time and backing by the club sadly he won’t get it and he will be the next scape goat

The last few games have been a concern. GA initially showed flexibility in his tactics/starting XI (moving from 442 to 352) and was proactive with his substitutions to affect the game.

The last few games we’ve stuck with the same tired starting XI and made minimal substitutions, and the subs we have made have come late in the game and have been very safe changes (like for like changes).

I’m not writing him off just yet but it is a worry that he seems to have become set in his ways already.

 

GA was never the first choice manager, it was desperation when Cowley did a U-turn.

 

You also forgot to add that they had a gameplan, and an understanding of what each player had in mind

 

he’s steadied the ship and got us into a healthy position because at one point we were looking a relegation fight

Not sure if you were amongst them but many fans were playing hell because we had not found a manager 4/5 weeks after Hughes left, if he makes an instant appointment he's rushed it, if he takes his time and gets turned down by his first candidate he then has to go down his list, its not that difficult to understand with regards the situation ?.

 

How do you know that?

 

Even if you don't believe the media report that we offered it to Cowley, Richie Wellens himself said we'd approached him and asked if he wanted it.

 

So he goes down the list of possible candidates, what more could he do if Cowley turned him down, not sure Wellens was approached especially after the Mark Hughes situation.

Wellens has no reason to lie. I think most are annoyed with Sparks' blatant lie that Alexander was first choice when we all know that wasn't the case.
