We know the answer. Not very many. Alexander wasn’t eleven on Sparks’ radar. He got sacked as we happened to be scrabbling around for a manager as anyone with any credibility had already turned us down. Sparks lied when talking about Alexander’s appointment and that’s not the first time our CEO has bent the truth.
He thinks he’s clever - when the shit starts to hit the fan he gives the fans Wright back on loan or he brings back Dion. He announces Jamie Walker signing a contract extension at the end of season awards to try and keep us sweet. He’s a worm. Everything he does and says is about what a great job he’s doing under terrible circumstances and that he’s under all kinds of restraints. He’s a con artist and he’s not interested in anything but self preservation.
For me his 3 years of leadership have done years and years of damage and it’s unforgivable.

If anyone was in any doubt about the role of good leadership at a football ball club then last night shone a massive spotlight on just how much it means.

We as a group of fans are now witnessing the downward spiral of our once fantastic club. From our CEO down to manager and captain. All in a position of leadership but unable to lead.

We have a very poor squad with barely 11 players who can get a result on the pitch. Watching last night performance it is now evident that GA has no idea what to do and keeps trying to reinvent the wheel. If Ryan Sparks is the answer then I have no idea what the question is. Make no mistake about it we are in a terrible place.

Rupp is not a leader either, we are completely rudderless. However leader or not if he wants to see any of his money returned he has two options sell the club or invest more money. We are talking millions here enough to end contract of players, manager and recruitment and not to mention CEO. That is the kind of ruthless surgery needed to get our club back on track.

    Exactly.

I genuinely feel a bit sorry for Alexander. He was billed by the CEO as our preferred choice of manager when most people knew that was patently untrue. He inherited a squad built by the previous manager (who didn't really understand lower league football despite his enormous experience playing and managing at the highest levels) and designed to play in a particular style. It was unbalanced with some gaping holes in some areas. Hughes had been allowed to assemble the squad in that way by his boss. Alexander was then expected to get a tune out of this squad which just wasn't his group of players. He had to wait for several months before he could tweak the squad in the transfer window but with little opportunity for the major overhaul it needed. He's certainly not helped himself with some strange selections and tactics at times but hasn't been helped with losing some important individuals in key areas at times. He's becoming a bit of a scapegoat in the minds of some fans because he's an easy target.

But he isn't the cause of the underlying problems at VP. He is a symptom of those problems and part of a longish line of recent unsuccessful managerial appointments. There is a malaise at VP which has little to do with who is currently sitting in the manager's chair. Rather than focus on Alexander, we should instead be looking at the pattern of managerial appointments and looking at those who were responsible for this. The root cause of the club's problems are Alexander's boss and his boss's boss. They set the ethos, the philosophy and dare I say, the vision of the club's future. Without changes to the leadership of our club, replacing Alexander with another manager just avoids dealing with the real problem.

And then we will be having this debate in a years time with a shed load of more dross on long term contracts.
Having endured months of GAs 'football' I do not trust him with a budget to build a squad. That said, I want Sparks out 1st as we cannot allow him to make another big decision.

He needs to go. He may not be the main problem at the club but he certainly is not the answer.

●Playing a 2 man midfield of Smallwood an Mcdonald against Mansfield's diamond
●Regularly playing 6/7 defensive players against relegation fodder
●Regularly playing players out of position, i.e. Oyegoke in CM
●Not taking Smallwood off set pieces
●Shit tactics on a regular basis
●Refusal to make changes early when Stevie Wonder can see that the writting is on the wall
●Refusing to play certain players, having favourites

His style of football is shit. It relies upon individual brilliance from the likes of Walker, Pointon, Odour, Cook. It is not sustainable an the man has no plan B, besides bringing on certain players that should be playing from the get go. Get rid of him. Bring a DoF in and let that man decide which manager should be brought in

Its about time the recruitment team stepped up and improved their due diligence during a summer rebuild.

League 2 is a terrible, terrible, terrible league and there is not a massive difference in ability between the top teams and the midtable teams.

the good teams are just better organised and know their job. They play for their manager and when you combine all of that and get some consistency, you get sides like Cambridge and Stevenage going up and Barrow and Crawley doing well this season.

we need to identify players with the right mentality. More Calum Kavanagh’s. He’s taken it all in his stride, with a bit of a swagger, and looks a cracking find. Sam Walker too. Lewis who? Walker has been excellent.

Didn't even sound angry about what has just happened this week. Just put your arms around the lads and say well done for sticking together. Bollocks!!

I bet if Warnock was manager that he would have been arrested by now for GBH

And neither does losing against bottom of the league, out of form sides and midtable mediocrity. He was brought in to do a job and he accepted the challenge = he has failed.

Alexander was a desperate, poor appointment. Doesnt matter who we sign in the summer - id rather our recruitment goes into a team with a decent manager at the helm.

TBF, in the interview after the Notts County game he did make quite a big deal of our low scoring problem. He said it’s been an issue all season and also pointed out that last season we were almost totally reliant on Cook’s goals. It sounded as though he’s extremely frustrated with the hand he has to work with, particularly up front.

If you look at the decent run of results we had in January and February, there were a lot of clean sheets there, based on a settled back three that was the tightest in the division. With a couple of exceptions, we were getting wins and draws by being hard to beat and nicking the odd goal. But more recently, we’ve been hammered by injuries and unavailability at the back. The clean sheets have dried up and our forwards simply aren’t capable of making up for that.

Except at Fleetwood where he took them up.
Except Scunthorpe where he took them to the play off's, the following season sacked yet he had Scunthorpe fifth in the league when he was sacked, trigger happy chairman ?.
Salford City in his first season took them from non league football to the EFL after beating AFC Fylde at Wembley, in his second season to took Salford to the EFL Trophy but the final was never played because of Covid, his third season he was sacked having got Salford fifth in the league being unbeaten in the opening five league games, Neville sacked Alexander and brought his buddy Paul Scholes in, Salford City co-owner Gary Neville later admitted that sacking Alexander was a mistake, saying "Graham Alexander should have never left this club last season. I should have never made the decision that I made".
Motherwell in his first season they finished fifth in the Scottish Premier League.
MK Dons September 2023 Alexander was named the EFL League two Manager of the Month for August 2023 after the club finished the month top of the table with twelve points from their opening five games. However, following a run of eight league games without a win (not eight defeats), on 16 October 2023, Milton Keynes Dons sacked Alexander after just 16 games in charge of the club.
I'd say his managerial record isn't as bad as your trying to make out.
Keep up the good work buddy ;).

Sparks should be the first to go. Then his successor can bring in his own manager.

The club is dying under this regime and it breaks my heart.

Seriously considering taking a season away from it all for the first time since 1965, apart from Covid season

We had Leslie who sat with his legs crossed

Now we have this clown who either sits in the stands or stands with his hands in his pockets

Look at Clough ... Even 5 up he was shouting and barking orders on the pitch

I want to see passion and emotion

    This guy's a joke

Derek Adams was right about the state of the club. Funny that our CEO reacted like a petulant child as a response. Hes an arrogant, out of depth charlatan. Hopefully he resigns this morning.

Come on chaps, its only in jest. I mean no harm. Some of the replies were amusing though...

Bradford was a good away day, I've always enjoyed it and every Bradford fan I met was sound.
I don't think we'll get promoted either by the way, we're too Jekyll and hyde and have some tough games coming up. I hope next year will be our year. Play offs mean nothing to me as if we have to play in them I guarantee we'll fck it up.

Good luck trying to oust your owner. In the words of Alan Partridge - You might have to go Black Ops, to rid him. We've had to do it, and its a long slog but disrupting their daily life/other businesses works a treat.

These are questions for Ryan Sparks and he’s failed to deliver them for years hence once of the reasons he hires managers without a plan, the club has no identity and the squad is so poor.

Rupp has to put more money in and show more interest in what is happening at the club but his bollocks statement is just to make people think he will put more money in then come September when Sparks is still delivering a shit show then what? Oh and our squad is still crap? Then what do we do?

In terms of GA he has to go as no matter if Sparks or Rupp did have a plan then how can you work with a manager than doesn’t know what he is doing from match? How do you plan with a manager like him? He will set us back years mate.

    Yes, Really.
Everyone that works for me, has been trained by me.
Yes sometimes mistakes are made, who has not made a mistake.
I believe its how you react to making the mistakes and my staff take on board what is said to them and then act appropriately.
    Man management and all that.

I feel like about 35 of us posters post this exact sentence or something similar every April-May..... and then Ash Taylor is the first signing through the door.
