That may not be fair, but I think your assessment of Stuart is harsh and unreasonable. It would be fair to say he took on the job with full knowledge of his role which was limited, I strongly suspect he had no real idea of what that might be like in practice. Nevertheless he did a sterling job of trying to hold it together, and to say he had no idea how to turn it round is harsh. The environment and lack of support from the Board (my view) Roy of the Rovers would not know how to turn it around. The difference between Parky and Stuart is stark in my view, Parky was allowed to run the squad, and made all team selections and purchases, and full support of the board. No man is an island, in whatever work we do.

@Onside I wouldn't waste my time entertaining park because by the time it's all done he does a complete u-turn and try to make out he never said stuff or leaves snippets of the conversation out to suit his agenda.

 

I agree you have to have respect for the manager and its his choice whether to turn up or not but on a preseason game a couple of beers with the lads and supporters isn't going to derail the season as happened this year

 

Agree, and I’m not going to try to use the bonding session as an excuse for what happened from January.

But, whilst I agree with you that it’s okay to turn up and have a couple of beers with the lads, it certainly isn’t acceptable to be one of the more drunk.

You remember his spectacular fall off the car roof following our promotion to the Prem? Should your staff ever see that type of behaviour from their manager? He was that worse for wear, I’m just glad no cars were about.

Well I can't comment on what he was like over there as I wasn't there but lads I know said it was a good trip and topped off with a few beers with the club .

 

I’m a big McCall fan and have defended him lots since his return to the club. The likes of Park like to beat him over his first spell (when he was still learning his trade), but he has shown marked improvement.

But, he was in a state by the end of that night, and it wasn’t good to see. I’m all for players, fans and management sharing some beers and having a laugh. But the manager has to show some restraint.

 

Unfair in his first season he was given a freebie by the fans because he didn’t know the league or its players.the second season he had the biggest budget in the league and just as this year he flunked when in a good position. He brought the wrong man as number two as well

If Grayson walks and Parkinson gets the bullet, would you take him back? And if so, would you insist on a 1yr rolling contract? Afterall, his record in the Championship (for ANY club) has been awful.

I would have thought the pre season tour would have been OK by the owners, Im sure the locals we're very happy about the Bradfordians spending their €€€.

 

If Bolton Survive he should be championship manager of the season he has had all his best players sold from under him some mid season with no replacement. By the way anybody who saw the two games against Bolton last season would tell you we had by far the superior team however which one got promoted

I would have Parky back in a heartbeat under any contract

 

We'll never know what might have been if the owners had stuck to their word of not changed what had brought us success over the last several years, we can't say because he got us to a play off place against Millwall he would have taken us to the next step but I wouldn't have bet against him doing it, I'm with you @Park bantam I'd have him back in a breath, but as it ain't gonna happen I'l give my full support to whoever is our next manager at Valley Parade.

But his record in the Championship is appalling. You like to look at historical records when judging managers, so why not Parkinson’s?

Let’s not forget the dreadful run under Parkinson. The way you look at short term records/results, I’m surprised you didn’t want Phil sacking back then, let alone having him back.
