With where @zico is in the table tbh it makes sense him going against the grain tbh. He does what the majority does and he will struggle to move up but if he takes a punt he could score big when everyone else scores very little

 

Sterling hasn't really this season. Personally, I would like Rashford on for Sterling. Him and Shaw built up a pretty good relationship over the season and knowing each other will help us be more of a threat down that side. I would be tempted to take Mount off Grealish, mount can be more disciplined but Grealish more dynamic and I don't think with Scotlands lineup we need that extra discipline especially with Phillips and Rice in there

 

Odd choice of sub. Why is Sterling still on? Would have taken Sterling and Mount off. Got Grealish central but allowed to roam, Rashford on the left and Sancho on the right

 

It's as I said above he isn't really a traditional lead the line Striker anymore. He needs direct fast players around him. If Greenwood hadn't pulled out then Rashford one side, Greenwood the other would have been ideally and then a midfield 3 of Rice holding and two from Foden/Mount/Grealish. Or maybe even better Lingard in for either Rashford or Greenwood as he can do that job that Son does so well to help Kane at Spurs.

If we are going to play Kane as the sole striker and then have an out of form Sterling and then one of Foden/Mount/Grealish on the other wide position we will continue to lack penetration when Kane drops deep

 

Oh and that worked out not too bad for @zico .Only person to score any points

But that's the thing neither team deserved to win. Both had one good chance and a couple of half-chances. It's not like their game against the Czech's where they created a lot and outside the goals weren't really threatened.

I think the problem with Southgate is he did ok when we didn't really have the best team and not as many option but now we do in a lot of positions and its tactically causing him to freeze. Playing 2 DM's and 2 AM's but having to shift one of those DM's out wide where they aren't effective is a major problem as the team just isn't balanced. He needs to stop acting like he has to pick some players and pick the players that will work together best for the team they are up against
