City fans revel in misery

 

Kelly has impressed me to be fair. I thought he'd been a bit shaky at times previously but hopefully with a run he can gain confidence settle right in.

Platt has been very good in both games I think, he gives us the physical edge aerially that Taylor for whatever reason seems to lack.

 

Good win tonight, a bit frustrating that we dropped off at 2-0 for a lot of the game. But never under too much pressure and nice to seal it with a third.

 

It was four points when I posted. Gillingham got a late winner against Wimbledon which made it five points.

 

I think Platt and Kelly are not as slow as some people make out....or maybe they just look quicker playing alongside Taylor and Stubbs

 

errr...I wasn't championing Stubbs at all - I think he has been awful recently. What I was doing was suggesting that maybe Platt and Kelly deserve a bit of credit for their performances.

 

They're 'mobile', not necessarily the same as fast but very important

 

After watching another fantastic display from Halliday and another solid midfield performance from Smallwood I have to ask the questions of Hughes. What an earth were you thinking dropping Halliday and what the hell did you do to make Smallwood look so bad?

 

I think Kelly is pretty quick Platt less so

 

First yard is in the head

 

The answers to that are pretty simple. He brought in Oyegoke so that Halliday wasn't too comfortable with his place in the team. Im hoping the same result transpires for Smith an Cook when Young is back in January an Oliver is fully fit.

As for Smallwood, well Hughes wanted him to do everything, rather than allow him to play his natural game. GA is playing to the teams strengths, not shoehorning them into a system that wasnt suited to the players

 

Was a good performance from us tonight. As a City fan, playing a team destined for relegation tends to be a nailed on loss. Glad we didn't take our foot off the gas after scoring first. We pressed high, forced FGR into mistakes, and capitalised from them. The system seems to work well. We have bodies in the midfield, we can stretch the play through our full backs, our defence is good in the air an the burden of carrying the front line doesn't solely lie on Cook's shoulders

In regards to Taylor, It was a rash challenge, to my memory, it was from a mistake of his own making. It was a red, Don't be fooled into thinking Platt is quick enough to get across, as for Richards, he was on the wrong side of the attacker and was never getting in front. Taylor had a decent game, im not his biggest fan, but I don't see the logic in constantly bashing our players. If they were shit then fair play, but baring a few wayward passes an being caught out of position once or twice, he had a decent game

 

Good to see another win but yet again took absolutely none of the game in.

Just got back from Man City and wasn't expecting to be logging on to a 3-0 Bantams win tonight too. Great result. Switching to 5-3-2 at HT in that Notts County game has been the turning point (I hope) for our season.

Another clean sheet and three points. Cracking effort lads, well done GA.

Glad to see Cooky bagged (albeit a pen) and slightly disappointed we seem to have a blank weekend on Saturday due to the F.A. Cup second round, just when we are starting to gather a bit of momentum.

 

Honestly I feel for Smallwood, clearly wanted to lead by example as captain and followed Hughes orders the best he could, even when it made him look shite and offered nothing except sideways passing, to the point he was cheered off one game when subbed.

Hughes goes and he’s back to putting in good performances again.

 

Can we play you every week......I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading tonight, let's enjoy the win for crying out loud.

Not really , some would have him sacked because Bobby wasn’t in the squad!
