Watching the BBC I certainly haven’t noticed any right wing bias. But they have handled this disastrously

As well just to add, the man has housed two refugees in his own home as well. Not really virtue signalling. Genuinely not sure what he's done to deserve this level of hate.

its weird how people hate him so much for doing nothing, just being a bloke who cares about something.

 

Yeah down with free speech and up with cancel culture for a person who has not been seen to to breach any rules because he is a freelancer at the BBC so the same rules to Andrew Neil apply to him.

 

are you saying this is the first incidence of someone "breaching impartially"? what about Andrew Neil wearing a ASI tie Live on tv?



what about Karen brady or Alan Sugar both telling their followers on twitter that they should vote conservative? or even sugar bluntly insinuate that the labour opposition leader at the time is a Nazi? what about Richard Osman or brain cox criticising tory policy? Michael Macintyre did a skit criticising the tory gov even though he hosts BBC shows..
how is that not a breach of impartially?

seems like to me government censorship if and when they feel like it.

 

I prefer to wait for the verdict before making a comment. As I said they are waving the white flag on impartiality. The more relevant debate now is whether we should have the BBC. If as you say the BBC hasn’t been impartial for years.

 

a football presenter discussing current matters and disagreeing with them is not a breech of impartiality. it just isn't.. Imagine Andrew Neil or Bruce saying they disagreed with a labour policy saying it was akin to Stalinist Russia. Would you expect them to require to apologise?

also the BBC has been a tory mouthpiece for years.

 

I didn’t watch Andrew Neil and I haven’t watched QT for years. Impartiality is a thing of the past and the BBC by their behaviour are saying they cannot hold the line on impartiality. The more interesting debate is whether we actually need a national broadcaster. Lineker, Bruce et al can leave and go to the Pimps broadcaster Sky where they can tweet till their heart is content.

Completely disagree with your stance on impartiality. We will have agree to disagree.

in my view this constant dialogue about whether the BBC is right wing of left wing is symptom of a politically polarised nation, where alternative views are no longer tolerated. It is rocking our democracy and our trust in government. Women died so that I could vote and I have always voted but atm I have no idea who I will vote for in the next election. I literally don’t trust any politician, they treat the electorate with contempt between elections and lie at election time. I would like a proper debate about the BBC but given rabid way politics are discussed these days I don’t suppose that is possible.

If only the BBC had had the balls to stand up to pressure from the government in the first place. Ah, but the top guy is a fully paid up Tory supporter/donor so perhaps not surprising.
