We now have a full Squad except for one more possible signing so based on the fact we are likely to play one up front what would your selection be
    Hornby
    Threskeld
    Ridehalgh
    Canavan
    Paudie
    Songo
    Watt
    Gillead
    Cooke
    Eisa
    Cook

You're probably not too far away with this. Crankshaw or Vernham coulld replace either Gillead or Eisa, depending how preseason goes for either of them.

Agree, not too far away but Angol was PDG in the first half the other night.

There may be an opportunity for Cook to play just behind him , a change in formation if we have to “ chase the game”

As I said the other night a hard, but pleasing, shout picking 11 ….mind you thats Adams job….and not ours.

On what I have seen so far, ie Avenue game and snippets of Donny, I don’t think it’s a million miles away.

I know it's a new season and we have a new manager but why would anybody think Sutton shouldn't be starting after how good he was last season is beyond me.

In an Adams team of grafters he's my choice next to Songo'o, way ahead of Watt for me.

Very simple: Songo'o is better and Watt offers something different.

He does, but if he continues to give 3 or 4 freekicks, twenty yards out and to their right of the box, like he did last season, then Adams will soon drop him.

If Adams goes 4-2-3-1 as he did at Morecambe and he wants grafters then Songo'o and Sutton would be the best partnership. Watt is more of a ball player.

Agreed Ricky, I see Watt as competition for Cooke rather than Songo'os sidekick

Watt is a certain starter next to Songo'o for me. Had a promising season last year and with a more defensively sound player next to him, he should have more freedom to play his game. Sutton was ok last season, had a very good spell when T&S came in but wasn't great at the start or the end of the season. He has his assets but him and Songo’o wouldn't work for me as there's a distinct lack of passing ability in that combo.

It depends how Adams wants to play it. We may see a Southgate style 4231 with two defensive CMs and an expectation that the front four will mostly create their own chances. In that set up Sutton is the better defensive option, and also has the pace and engine to carry the ball forward in a box to box role. On the other hand, Watt can hit the long diagonal passes from deep for our quick wide men to run onto. Could go either way.

With the right players around him…..he could be even better. Songo’o springs to mind, to pick up the dirty job.

Sutton is a real grafter box to box whilst Watt is the best passer in the team both are decent players so good competition. Watt is unlucky because he has missed the chance to impress because of injury

I'd like to see Sutton start at right back.

He was excellent there a couple of times last year and his pace and energy could be a real asset from an attacking sense.

There might be questions both positionally and defensively but he possibly makes up for that going the other way.

Fair point, however I can’t say I have seen him at RB.

This. threlkeld had a tough game at Avenue. He would be entitled to need the run out of course and will prob sharpen up, but if Sutton can’t usurp Watt for the spot alongside Big Yann then I agree RB could be a route into the XI. Reckon Ridehalgh, Canavan and Paudie all start. Kelleher waiting for when Paudie’s form dips.
