Well, I have a season ticket as I have had for the last 26 years. I am still not sure if I am showing up on 14th August.

I am fully vaccinated but classed as vulnerable to Covid because of medical conditions and age.

I don't intend to become a hermit, but if the current rates of infection continue as they are I might hold off my return to Valley Parade for a little while.

I am sure I won't be alone in doing the same.

Although smallish in number I suspect those been admitted to hospital or dying are from the clinically vulnerable group with medical conditions and elderly, If you are in this group I think it is wise to give games a miss for awhile yet, Stay Safe

Normal years yes, Covid travel restrictions will hit that, despite whatever the Sex Yeti says today.

Just seen Carlisle are charging £10 adults and £5 kids first game back. Can see us doing similar for the 20k target.

Listening to Ryan's interview on radio Leeds , it appears that they are targeting this game. He called it the big home coming.
Sounds like they are planning a big day, maybe some kind of ticket offer as well.
I could see a 15000+ attendance. Which at our level is some going.

I can see uptake from Oldham being not far off a sell out for visitors.

I'm guessing someone on here would say that's a failure because we haven't sold 20,000.....

As did the Blackpool fans with their protest against Oyston, refusing to give any money via home games yet traveled away to support their club/team.

Good theme Rod. Bury ground for sale although Bury FC beat Thackley yesterday so look as though reformed. As to the others I don't disagree. Think Oldham, Scunny and Swindon are all in danger to various degrees.

That sums it up Rod. In addition Swindon have the ownership Court case dragging on in very unseemly circumstances according to press reports. Until that is settled they are in complete limbo even without transfer restrictions. I can see it ending badly.
Scunny have lost players who they wanted to keep but can't afford according to T MC who is assistant manager and as far as I know Oldham are still locked out of their new stand due to non payment of rent. I'm hearing there could be more in similar circumstances whilst the Owls and Rams get away with rule breaking relatively Scot free but I guess it's who you know.

Hope Oldham bring a glut of fans, I cannot wait to get back to live football.

Watching the scenes at Wembley right now, thinking back to Grimsby just a month b4 lockdown, does nothing but whet the appetite for football.

I'm back from a barging holiday at 10am on the day of the game and whilst they'll be a sadness to the ending of a holiday, the start of a new football season beckons brings a smile to my face.

I saw an article which suggested that Oldham, Swindon Town and Scunthorpe United are unable to pay any transfer fees this summer and are only permitted to sign players released by other clubs - and therefore a free transfer - while also falling within the financial restrictions that the EFL impose.
The three clubs apparently can make loan signings, but only for half a season, and cannot pay fees to acquire loan players or pay additional wages on top of the salary the player receives at their parent club. Sounds as though all three are in difficult positions.

I honestly don’t see many clubs , certainly in L2 paying transfer fees, in any case Rod. Any monies available will probably go on “signing on fees” to the out of contract players some clubs want to attract. . We might see a couple or three clubs buck the trend, but not many.

The fact they aren’t permitted, as you say, speaks an awful lot about their financial well - being.

Depends how it's marketed. I've seen many a game in super league which are specifically targeted to reach 20,000+ figures and this game has mitigating circumstances such as City's first home game for well over a season and Oldham first away game in the same time. If the game is marketed right both sides of the pennines then we may get close to that figure.
