So at least 6 people have said that those two entities have encountered each other. Sick bucket needed.

Just seen Carlisle are charging £10 adults and £5 kids first game back. Can see us doing similar for the 20k target.

This is a hard one to call. I know there are 12k season ticket sales, but how many of these intend to go from the start and are still a little nervous about Covid.

Then you have those who won't have been to a physical game in 18 months who will make efforts to go, this is most likely to see a higher away support.

I think we will be somewhere between 14 to 15k.

I think Oldham sell out. Good away support, first game back in 18 months, first game of season, 45 minute trip - 2,800 with relative ease.

Going back to my earlier post Sergio, add in their displeasure with their owners, makes the short trip a really good opportunity to get behind their team for the season opener without funding* their owners. Should be a cracking day out, for everyone. A marketing push could well see over 18k. ( *I know they get about a quid a ticket for selling them ).

Think I'll be in the Legends Suite for this one now...youngest lads birthday on 22nd and have done it a couple of times. Few beers, 3 course meal, meet some players and the man of the match...although it says a lot about our performances when he met Ryan McGowan and then BRE.....

I saw an article which suggested that Oldham, Swindon Town and Scunthorpe United are unable to pay any transfer fees this summer and are only permitted to sign players released by other clubs - and therefore a free transfer - while also falling within the financial restrictions that the EFL impose.
The three clubs apparently can make loan signings, but only for half a season, and cannot pay fees to acquire loan players or pay additional wages on top of the salary the player receives at their parent club. Sounds as though all three are in difficult positions.

That sums it up Rod. In addition Swindon have the ownership Court case dragging on in very unseemly circumstances according to press reports. Until that is settled they are in complete limbo even without transfer restrictions. I can see it ending badly.
Scunny have lost players who they wanted to keep but can't afford according to T MC who is assistant manager and as far as I know Oldham are still locked out of their new stand due to non payment of rent. I'm hearing there could be more in similar circumstances whilst the Owls and Rams get away with rule breaking relatively Scot free but I guess it's who you know.

I honestly don’t see many clubs , certainly in L2 paying transfer fees, in any case Rod. Any monies available will probably go on “signing on fees” to the out of contract players some clubs want to attract. . We might see a couple or three clubs buck the trend, but not many.

The fact they aren’t permitted, as you say, speaks an awful lot about their financial well - being.

Wasn't that AFC Bury, the phoenix club that play in Radcliffe ? Bury FC are (as far as I know) still in existence, but also very much dormant and haven't issued an update on anything since September 2020.

Just seen it in today's T&A and it is the phoenix club, though they are called Bury AFC not AFC Bury. The original was just FC. If you like that sort of thing, there is a great documentary about Bury AFC on BBC IPlayer, particularly around the trolling Steve Dale has done to discredit them.

Can we take advantage of that situation? Obviously McAleny was the stand out but is there anyone else?

You're right Kev, looking at the lists of signings that have taken place so far, the overwhelmingly majority in leagues 1 and 2 and even the Championship are all free transfers with a handful of 'undisclosed'. Of course there's still plenty of time for that to change, but I'm not sure it will very much.

I think the interesting bit is, ‘…the financial restrictions that the EFL impose’. These are hidden, but I speculate that it could include some form of financial cap, to ensure that the staff who are employed actually get paid. So that could dissuade potential players from signing, especially those who want higher salaries, etc. Who is going to want to relocate, perhaps with a young family, only to then experience problems with getting paid. Someone who does some work for me, was offered the opportunity to undertake work at Boundary Park, but decided to turn it down.
