Bit of free time this morning so i've done an exercise based on everyone's current form over the last 12 games, and then a comparative one for everyone's form over the last 6 games too. this also considers how many games everyone has left, an everyones current points total.

If everyone maintains the form over the last 12 games, it will see city finish 3rd! If you base it on everyone's form over the last 6 games it sees us in the playoffs due to Cheltenham and Bolton picking up over the last 6 matches. Interesting none the less. What i found interesting is that in both cases the minimum points total for a play off place is 74 - 76 points, which is probably a better gauge / target.

Wembley??? you pessimist! going up automatics mate! In all seriousness, we will make the playoffs. Win our game in hand and were only 7 points off 4th. More than achievable. Just look at the form over the last 10 games since T&S took over. remarkable really when you consider where we were.

I hope we can make the playoffs. It's certainly a possibility. But I fear that the nonstop Saturday-Tuesday games to the end of the season might be too much even for our improved squad depth. If we're very lucky with injuries and suspensions we might just do it. Fingers crossed.

The saving grace is all other teams are in the same situation but looking at our bench and those who can't get on it should hold us in good stead

Based on tonight's League Two Table projected points after 46 games are as follows:
    To win the league 82points
Automatic promotion (third place) 80 points
Play-off place (seventh place) 74 points

If City win their home games (10 games, 30 points) and draw their away games (9 games, 9 points) they will have 76 points.
That would be an average of 2.05 points per game. Under T&S they have averaged 2.18 points per game.
    The impossible is now possible!

Whats crazy is that if we were to continue our form since T&S took over to the end of the season and every other team in the league continue the form they have had throughout the season, we would finish 4th on 78pts, just 1 point short of Carlisle in 3rd on 79.
Whats even crazier, if we win on Tues night, that projection changes to us finishing on 81pts, and us WINNING the league.

Now, I naturally don't think that will actually happen for a load of reasons, but it really shows how good we have been and what a remarkable job these two are doing

Nicked this from the league 2 forum.
Table since Trueman and Sellars took over.
The only side to concede single figures is a telling improvement imo.
Repeat this form the next set of 12 and believe me we will be top 5 pushing for the autos.
Tonight FGR play Southend and Walsall play Newport.
Heres hoping for a set of draws.

You have reminded me of West Bromwich Albion's 2001/02 automatic promotion season, when 18 of their 27 wins were by a single goal, 15 of them (including both matches against us) were 1-0 wins. The game at Valley Parade was won by West Brom with a 90th minute penalty.

In many respects that West Brom side was a perfect example of how to build a successful side based on a rock solid defence.

Incidentally, West Brom's last 18 matches that season produced 13 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats, a total of 42 points. If City could emulate that run in, it would leave us on 82 points.

I've changed my vote to 1st to 3rd place.

I really think we're gonna keep winning, I think we might even win the league at this rate, our form is nothing short of incredible at the moment!

Sparks, Trueman and Sellars are the future !!

Back in League One next season!!!

I love your permanent state of optimism! :)

I expect us to just fall short of the play-offs. We now have a good squad and T&S have got them working well together and engendered confidence throughout the squad. Long may it continue. Since taking over the reins, T&S have produced around 2 points per game which itself is amazing and if they continue at that level, we'd more than likely scrape into the play-offs with 74 points. But with a backlog to catch up, unfortunately I don't see that happening and we might just fall short of the play-offs by a couple of points as the 2 games a week schedule catches up with us.

I really hope I'm proved wrong!

with everyone capable of beating anyone (Grimsby aside), it could be a low points total that secures a play off place, I reckon 11 wins and 2 or 3 draws (69/70 points) would be enough and that still allows for 4 or 5 defeats.

The way we’re playing is only going to get better as new players gel into the team ad T&S tweak the formation.
I kept thinking last night about how devastating Cooke, Watt, Sutton and Evans will be when the pitches start to dry out and the ball runs quicker. Vernam in a free role and Rowe up front are going to tear teams apart at this level.
Roll on Saturday roll on the BCFC juggernaut all the way to Wembley!!! COYB #believe!

I'm in the optimist camp and can see us getting better. Past performance is no indicator of future returns as they say in my world, but covid is receding, The vaccine rollout makes Brexit look a great idea and T&S are amazing. Plus I predeict a record low for the playoffs of maybe 68 points so I'm going with 7th and finishing with at least 70 points.

We keep up our current form we would probably get 3rd! So 7th is a strong possibility!

Yes, there lies the problem. It's quite likely that every team in the division will go through a bad patch, due to the high number of matches to fit in and the risk of injuries and suspensions.

The teams that have already got the points in the bag are in a better position to ride those bad patches, whereas we can't really afford many slip ups.

Just need to keep our expectations realistic but lets enjoy the ride fellas - I think we will finish between 10th and 6th (hedging my bets a bit I know ;))

Honestly, not looked forward to match days as much for at least 3 years - even though we can't attend. Know there is still a lot to do but will say it again, massive credit to T&S, Sparks and Rupp for the transformation - and to the players for getting their act together

Having looked at the table, then 12 teams have played 1 more than City, 5 have played 2 more, only 2 have played 2 more, we are one of four teams having played 26 games, whereas Carlisle have to ‘catch up’ two more. So although we have a rapid turnover of games, there is not that much difference between our situation and that of the rest.

Luck, fitness, injury, suspension and squad size will all play a part in the final outcome.
