68-75 points in the last decade or so, 40 more points from the next 20 games should guarantee the play offs. 12 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats.
Today’s game at Cheltenham will show where we are, away at the team third in the league. Win or a good draw in this will show we’re contenders.

In this league where it goes down to 7th then it has been as low as 68. I think the average for 7th is about 71/72

All the top 7 are averaging 1.7 points a game if my maths is right. If they continue that form they should all end up around 75/76 points, the exception being Cambridge on 78.
If we continue our firm we could end on 74/76 so we can do it going by the maths and current form, it would boils down to how we do against the teams currently holding those positions I guess
I do think it is a tall order to keep this up for another 20 games but it's certainly not impossible.

Next five games are crucial. If we can get to 31 games and have 45 points, with another 45 to play for it becomes doable.

Most certainly, I think it is something we can do but it will be a real challenge. For once its something that I can see the club and players being prepared and confident enough to aim for.

Interesting to listen to Connor Woods recent interview, where he mentions the fact that the players (as a whole) have their own 'goal' this season. We could think back to the past and believe this would be the all important 'stay up' mentality, however, I would say that this is now a thing of the past.

After beating Cheltenham today, I honestly believe the play offs are now well within reach. I think the players are also aiming for this rather than to avoid relegation.

How fantastic is it that we have all been given some real positive energy, the magnificant 'duo' are working wonders and the January INS/OUTS have really paid off.

City are now 7/2 to finish in the top 7 with bet 365 - I would say that is a very good offer - one which will end at midnight this evening.

    Discuss.

Based on tonight's League Two Table projected points after 46 games are as follows:
    To win the league 82points
Automatic promotion (third place) 80 points
Play-off place (seventh place) 74 points

If City win their home games (10 games, 30 points) and draw their away games (9 games, 9 points) they will have 76 points.
That would be an average of 2.05 points per game. Under T&S they have averaged 2.18 points per game.
    The impossible is now possible!

The two game a week situation effects virtually every other club (look at Carlisle - who gain the most if they win their games in hand). So those with the best squads, not first team 11's will have an advantage. That means us

80 points could get you automatic this season

Best point average at the moment only gives one team, Forest Green, more than 80 points and even that's 'only' 82

I voted for the play-offs, but automatic in this crazy season isn't as potty as it sounds - if we keep up our current points ratio (24 out of the last 11) then we end up on 78

And I also think we have one of the deepest squads. Certainly, I'd be surprised if Forest Green, Cambridge and Carlisle were bigger and it's those who would be promoted if the season ended right now

All to play for, It's as I said at the start of the season, nothing would surprise me, i.e. anywhere in the Top 10

If we do make the play offs then this has to be one of the craziest seasons I can recall.

Going from second bottom, getting beaten with ease, staring down into the NL, looking like e right basket case and then next thing we are on automatic promotion form looking like we could win every game home or away. Bizarre

Newport V Forest Green today plus 6 of the top 10 playing eachother Tuesday.
Another huge week if we can beat Orient then things will look even more promising than they already do.

Although our upturn in form has come a bit later in the season, it reminds me of Sheffield Utd's promotion from League 1 a few years ago. They too were struggling in the early part of the season - might have even occupied a relegation spot for a short while - only to suddenly hit a rich vein of form which rocketed them up the league and concluded with promotion.

Fingers crossed our season has the same happy ending. That would truly be amazing. Even better would be to emulate the momentum Sheffield Utd gained from that and secure another promotion not long after! OK, my heads in the clouds but heck I'm affording myself the luxury to dream!

Do you mean Barnsley the season before? They were bottom at Christmas and were promoted. Sheffield United did have a bad start, but it was only their first 4 games they were in the playoffs when we played them October/November time. Although there is a similarity in a way as that first 4 games they were playing a different formation and then found the best for them and won the league easily. A big part of our recent success was finding the 4231 formation. We truly look a different team now.

Whats crazy is that if we were to continue our form since T&S took over to the end of the season and every other team in the league continue the form they have had throughout the season, we would finish 4th on 78pts, just 1 point short of Carlisle in 3rd on 79.
Whats even crazier, if we win on Tues night, that projection changes to us finishing on 81pts, and us WINNING the league.

Now, I naturally don't think that will actually happen for a load of reasons, but it really shows how good we have been and what a remarkable job these two are doing

Looking on the league 2 forums all the talk is of Bolton being the only team to make a late run for the autos and being certs for a play off position.
A few sides in the top 10 losing momentum with the odd whisper about us.
This is exactly how it should be.
I don't want any pressure and extra hype placing on us.
Many feel Cambridge and FGR are certs for automatic promotion with the last auto place and play offs totally up for grabs.

If Cambridge lose Mullin to injury? etc. Who would be our must not lose to injury player? I can only really think of Woods as not seen Faulds play, but is a left back as big a loss? Watt or Sutton I'd say. There's a reasonable chance either will be suspended this season
