If you put DMH together with Ishmail they would still not be as good as just one of his legs

As much as he could have helped us short term no way would I have given him 18 months

Morais on one leg would be infinitely more effective than DMH.

Past his best? No doubt he is.
Considerably better than any of our fit wingers right now? By an absolute country mile.
Comparing him and DMH isn’t even a conversation.

I don’t like us to sign the same players over and over but id have got him in a few weeks ago with injuries on a short term deal until end of January and told him to earn a deal until summer

Absolutely guaranteed to score against us. DMH makes him look like George Best at his peak.

I always thought we let him go too early. He had a long injury layoff. He had a few starts and sub appearances after that but never looked fully cooked and appeared to be trying too hard. We released him; Parky snapped him up at Bolton and his prolific assists got them promoted.

I'm not one for going back for ex players but in my opinion giving Morais a short term deal would have been a no brainer. Would have given the squad a boost for Saturdays game, and by christ they need it.

And we all know what will happen over at Blundell Park on the evening of the 22nd of Dec ...

McKeown rolls the ball out to Luke Hendrie ...

Luke Hendrie controls the ball, runs 30 yards without a tackle and threads the ball through to Filipe Morais ...

Morais takes the ball, ignores the tackles from DMH and BRE and strolls to the edge of the penalty area ...

James Hanson is waiting stationary on the penalty spot for Morais' cross ...

Morais crosses perfectly onto the head of Hanson ...

Hanson heads the ball cleanly and forcefully ... out for a thrown-in!

Phew! Some things don't change. ;)

I randomly got into a conversation of all places LinkedIn. His comment when I suggested he might get the Bradford job if he plays his cards right. "Haha that is a managers dream job! Great club and fan base. I have such great memories of my time there and was gutted to have had to leave. Really hope Hopkin and the club have a bit of luck and get the success their loyal fans deserve. ⚽️❤️" I think majority of fans would of liked him to be at the club and on form. Just goes to show how injury combined with an increase in form of another player can change your position at a club so quickly. And we wonder why players want job security, long contracts and cash. That illustrates. You are only as good as your last few games

"Past his best" maybe but at our current wingers prime he still wouldn't be fit to lace Morais boots even now.

I agree we need better than we have so I absolutely agree with your post but if I had the chance of a swap, I'd definitely take a "past his best" Morais rather than a Mottley-Henry or a forever absent Ismael.

True. But I guess my point was that we released him because we thought he was in decline. Then he went to Bolton and was assisting goals for fun. He was the difference that got them promoted. Bad misjudgement.

Beggars can't be choosers. After losing Ismail for months we've literally have nothing to offer in the wide department, Pritchard isn't a wide player and DMH is useless.

I don't believe Morais would be part of the solution we urgently require, his days with us are recent history.
PP found smashing little gems like him when we needed them
Yes, our management team is restricted in many aspects of what they can and can't do.
However, the hidden gems out there are what we desperately need in January, and that's where they've to get it right.
I can arbitrate for Stu on a few things, particularly having poor defenders under contract eating into our modest budget.
But, he has to show his worth very soon and recruit players on little resource that will make us hard to beat.
The way this season is panning out, he's one chance to get it right.

Bit gutted about that when you look at our wide options right now, 18 months is a good deal for him.

Think for us and Grimsby in a relegation battle he’d be ideal. Plus usually ok for being fit and not on the treatment table a lot
