FIFA have not banned Russia from the World Cup Qualifiers. They have watered down to, ‘not being a national team’, but the RUSSIAN FOOTBALL UNION!
If you feel strongly about this, then write to FIFA and express your opinion at:- contact@fifa.org The more people who threaten action, express horror and perhaps boycott FIFA events, the more the message gets through to them.
If you have time then you could also write to FIFA’s sponsors and threaten to boycott their products unless they suspend their commercial relationship, whilst FIFA continues to give tacit support to Russia.
    • FIFA Partners: Adidas. Coca-Cola. Wanda Group. Hyundai. Qatar Airways. Visa.
    • World Cup 2022 sponsors: Budweiser. Hisense. McDonalds. Vivo. Mengniu.
Please bump this thread back to the top until FIFA change their position.

Your subject title is very misleading.

Fifa don't support Russia. They've clearly punished them. In your opinion it is not enough of a punishment, but let's have it right they've been punished, and certainly aren't supported, a claim which is ridiculous.

Fair enough. In a democracy people are entitled to different views.

I sent this email to FIFA, don't doubt it will fall on deaf ears but I needed to say something.

    Sir

I find it morally reprehensible that the world football authority feels it has no commitment to the international community.

The recent statement from your organisation is almost comic.

Only allowing Russia to “not play under a Russian flag” at “neutral venues” is equivalent to the children’s game, if I can’t see it, it’s not there.

I have loved football all my life, I’m 68 years old, but I find FIFA self serving and disconnected from a world where conflict is both frequent and catastrophic for the people.

Remember football is only a game, no-matter what Bill Shankley said.

Thanks for listening but do something.

Dirty money bought the last world cup (in Russia). Dirty money has bought the next world cup.

It's no wonder they are sat on their hands at the moment and just being seen to be doing something which is pretty much pointless.

I know the football team has nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine but whilst this is happening the whole of Russia should be seen as a pariah state and this includes it's sporting bodies, and if they are upset at being kicked out of various competition they can take it up with Putin.

It sounds like UEFA are going to kick Spartak Moscow from the Europa League and award the tie to RB Leipzig, that announcement is due soon with the game being scheduled in the next couple of weeks.

I guess if that happens they will kick them out of the Nations League, however that isn't until June. The World Cup Qualifiers are in March, and it won't surprise me to see FIFA ride it out, but they will look stupid if the other 3 teams refuse to take part from that Qualifying group.

Looks like FIFA under pressure, are going to ban not just the country, but also players from Russia and Belorussia from playing in any FIFA organised tournament. Eventually catching up with the majority of opinion of footballing nations. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/60560567

The stance in Formula one is the same stance taken in Football.

Russian and Belarus footballers can still play for clubs. If Bradford City had one he would still be able to play for us, in the same way a Russian or Belarus driver can still drive in F1.

However all Russian and Belarus teams are banned, the F1 race has been removed from Russia and no reference to Russia or Belarus can be made (ie podium flags, anthem, etc).

No, Abramovitch's assets aren't frozen. The government is talking big on freezing Russian assets, but moving at a snails pace in doing anything about it.
Why? Fear of litigation? Not wanting to upset Russian donors to the Tory Party? Who knows?

Even senior Tories like David Davis are questioning the delay and asking why Abramovitch hasn't had his assets frozen.

It'll cost too much. Lawyers will make millions defending the indefensible and these people have more money than the state can afford...our wonderful legal system. You can literally get away with murder if you've got the brass

I see Motorsport UK and have banned Russian drivers from all competitions, including UK GP, when FIA didn't go as far

Nope. They have been given some time to sort it out. It's a bit like the police tipping off criminals that there will be a raid

It fascinates me how people don't join the dots a bit more. Farage, it's all NATO's fault. Russia is great. Now he wants a referrendum on net zero. Which country is massively reliant on fossil fuels to fund it's economy? We are being manipulated by people who say they are doing it for us, and they care about us, but come on. It's all about money (their's and other countries). There's no moral stance, or regain of sovereignty. It's how does this benefit me personally.
