    14k x £71,500 = £1 billion (give or take the odd million)
We'd be the next Man City

I would be prepared to invest that amount. In fact I could probably go higher than £714. But lets be realistic, you could probably get about 300 fans at the best who would invest around £1,000 each, that would be far short of the figures required.
Even then, the Pension Fund are under no compulsion to sell.
If you want to set up a fund, whereby £200 shares could be offered, with a guarantee of full return of monies (less reasonable admin costs), if the target was not met or the objective within a set timescale say 5 years from the launch, then go ahead. I would be happy to look at the scheme. Perhaps in partnership with a Credit Union?
Unfortunately supporters like this guy are few and far between. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hearts/who-james-anderson-hearts-benefactor-millions-save-scottish-football-2870800

The only thing in the club's favour is that there is no legal obligation to renew the current lease when it expires.
My main fear is we could have a Coventry type situation where both parties a are playing hardball, waiting to see who blinks first.

But in all honesty, £300k p/a rental isn't an unreasonable amount for a 25k stadium.
And if we made it back to the championship, it would be a drop in the ocean.

As you say, a new ground isn't necessarily the golden ticket as some like to think.
In any case, i think the trend for 'out of town' stadia is coming to an end.
Habits change and centrally located grounds seem to be coming back into favour, particularly in the US.

If the cost to buy the stadium is approx 5 million pounds surely the club could copy Richmonds idea and try to sell 25 year season tickets for £2,500 for 2000 supporters, has to worth the club looking into it because at this moment the pension fund will have all the ace's when it comes to negotiations

It was never an option even when Lawn tried his bluff. Truth is
A new stadium of around 20,000 capacity will come in around £50 million give or take a couple of million. Peterboroughs new stadium development tells you everything you need to know, you need investment from a number of high profile parties, a stadium that is used more than 23 times a year so that includes more than one tenant. The planning process alone takes years to complete and even then you aren't guaranteed to get it. I know we speak about Valley Parade and a possible new stadium on here quite a lot but the truth is there is no other alternative and i'm damn near sure there never will be. And effectively as tenants we don't really bring much to the bargaining table, i mean, what are we gonna do? Tell Gibb to lower the price or we'll go elsewhere? Where exactly? I don't see large capacity stadiums hanging off trees like crabb apples. The day we sold Valley Parade we then handed the keys to Gibb. And he calls the shots not us.

Only place I could think of would be Marley Sports Centre in Keighley.

We won’t be getting a new stadium.
But purely hypothetical if we were to it’d have to be part of a major regeneration for the city, on a bigger scale than; Salford, Hull and Liverpool in the 90’s. It would need to be used for more than just football, be in/near the city centre and be surrounded by new restaurants, hotels, bars, casinos etc.

The best option would be to knock somewhere down in or around our dump of a centre and build all of the above with a multiple purpose sorts venue at the heart of it.

Shame it’ll never happen as the city could be reinvented with a regeneration scheme such as the cities named above, and the citizens and sporting clubs would all benefit from it.

Most likely outcome, we get another 25 year lease and pay far more than the stadium is worth. But as IBS says above we all have a right to dream and work for better.

I’ve worked with Bradford Council before and they have a can’t/won’t type of mentality and have done for probably 40 years plus. Sadly it has rubbed off on many Bradfordians and is ingrained into the ideology of the city.

I really wish Bradford Council would get involved somehow and see just how much this could boost the city. We've got pockets of nice things in the town centre but still a lot of concrete shite with outdated shops that nobody wants or needs anymore. Knock it all down and invest further in the city for goodness sake.

My youngest is in her final year at Manchester Uni studying English - but has still found time to sneak into the back of a couple of Brian Cox's lectures. He's a draw is that there Oldham lad.

Does anyone know if there was a buy back option put into the sale of VP? I’m assuming not as this would surely have been raised by now. Another example of having our pants pulled down...remind me, who was involved in the sale again???
