It's good to hear that discussions have started between the club and the landlord at a senior level after the years when Gibb refused to have any dealings with JR. Whether that's simply about resolving the future of VP as our home or something bigger is a matter of conjecture.

The pressing issue is that the current lease ends in 7 years time and the closer we are to the termination date, the stronger is the Pension Fund's hand. If the club has any intention of moving from VP (notwithstanding the enormous cost involved!) there is probably a window of less than three years before we have to commit to a future elsewhere. Starting discussions with the PF and establishing a more productive working relationship is a good start.

A terrible condition for all parties involved they are in a world of their own not knowing who you are although you look familiar as was the case with mum although she could recognise us as her young boys from years ago,, and mum was not the person we'd known in our case for over 70 years.

To use a turn of phrase, 'oh do come on', where is a fans consortium going to get at least £8 million, if not £10 million, to buy the ground from the Pension Fund, which is probably what it is worth to them. Seriously this is a none starter. If we worked on the figure of 14000 shareholders, then they would have to find in the region of £71,500 each. It isn't going to happen.

Like what I've heard from the lad, he was positive with regards every question, even saying he was not happy with our last 2 performances, I said I like the guy after hearing his first interview in getting the CEO position and tonight very positive going forward.

Sparkes was worth watching, seems vey honest and open, but the rest was a waste of time.Trueman and Sellars got off scott free, with no questions on tactics, and the two players said just what you would expect them to say, thats it a happy camp and they hope to do better.Fordys spot on about Sparkes meeting Gibb, but there were no follow up questions.

As a very astute businessman, I assume you are in direct discussion with Ryan and Stefan. Perhaps a joint venture, where sections under the stands, could house your Ultra Deluxe Car Wash? ;)

Everything that needed to be said was said season tickets and the way ahead. Plans to revamp the stadium and the playing area of the pitch and the training pitch.
Transfer matters and we were told players already lined up
We don’t need a director of football we have joint managers and a director of recruitment
If and when there us something to say about Rupp I am sure it will be said at the moment he is in charge and there is nothing to say that’s going to change
So therefore there is nothing to say about investment or takeovers

If Gibb did buy the club surely the liklihood is he will leave the ground in his pension fund and the club still won't own VP.

That won’t happen. You’re not getting 10,000 fans buying. Fans buying the club, the stadium, won’t happen. Forget about it.

Interesting that Ryan Sparks had been talking to Gordon Gibb yesterday and that he hopes it’s the start of a good relationship. When asked by Jamie Raynor wether buying the ground back had been discussed between Ryan and Stefan, Ryan just replied “yes”.

An interesting comment, if Stefan wants to sell would owning the ground be a better bargaining tool or maybe Gordon Gibb quotes a price and any interested party would have a guarenteed buy back price.
Love the lads enthusiasm so positive with every reply, early days I know but if he delivers I cant see him being at Valley Parade too long.

    Think that's in 2 years.

We need to find a site then planning permission etc.

I would like to hear that the club is looking at alternatives to VP. We need to be smart here.

Agree OGF, the questions chosen by Jamie Rayner were the 'nice, easy' ones - nothing controversial there.
Bet there was quite a few probing questions regarding recent performances, tactics etc that were overlooked.
If the forum had been held at VP, with fans being present, I think we would have seen quite a different carry on.
Nothing nasty etc but a few more 'nail on the head' questions.

The ground itself is worth next to nothing without city being there. So as the lease draws to a close at least we should make the appearance of looking at alternatives

It was never an option even when Lawn tried his bluff. Truth is
A new stadium of around 20,000 capacity will come in around £50 million give or take a couple of million. Peterboroughs new stadium development tells you everything you need to know, you need investment from a number of high profile parties, a stadium that is used more than 23 times a year so that includes more than one tenant. The planning process alone takes years to complete and even then you aren't guaranteed to get it. I know we speak about Valley Parade and a possible new stadium on here quite a lot but the truth is there is no other alternative and i'm damn near sure there never will be. And effectively as tenants we don't really bring much to the bargaining table, i mean, what are we gonna do? Tell Gibb to lower the price or we'll go elsewhere? Where exactly? I don't see large capacity stadiums hanging off trees like crabb apples. The day we sold Valley Parade we then handed the keys to Gibb. And he calls the shots not us.

We won’t be getting a new stadium.
But purely hypothetical if we were to it’d have to be part of a major regeneration for the city, on a bigger scale than; Salford, Hull and Liverpool in the 90’s. It would need to be used for more than just football, be in/near the city centre and be surrounded by new restaurants, hotels, bars, casinos etc.

The best option would be to knock somewhere down in or around our dump of a centre and build all of the above with a multiple purpose sorts venue at the heart of it.

Shame it’ll never happen as the city could be reinvented with a regeneration scheme such as the cities named above, and the citizens and sporting clubs would all benefit from it.

Most likely outcome, we get another 25 year lease and pay far more than the stadium is worth. But as IBS says above we all have a right to dream and work for better.

No ones giving up, most are just realistic. I mean, come on, fans buying the stadium. I had to laugh at that one. As for the city, its dying on its arse. It has no USP anymore other than a being an inner city run down wasteland. About 10 miles down the road is the fastest growing city in the country. Go figure.

Of course the PF would like to see us remain at VP continuing to provide them with an important source of income. But the fact remains once we pass the point at which a new ground would be impossible to deliver elsewhere before the current lease expires, the club would have no alternative other than to remain at VP. That places the PF in the driving seat.
