Bronco has just "liked" your post.

That's more reassuring that I'm right than trawling though any amount of relevant books.

I find it rather ironic this is one of the posters who wants emoji pops bringing back, then comments with regards me liking your post, wouldn't do for us all to be alike I suppose.

So, just to clarify. You're more than happy for people not to bother with the vaccine if they've already had Covid and you'd also be happy to sit alongside these people again in a packed stadium?

Strange choice for someone who presumably is in a higher risk category than most.

Why would you need a vaccine if you have acquired natural immunity?

Only two possibilities: we'll need boosters periodically if antibodies decline, or the test was wrong and the person doesn't actually have immunity.

But aside from that, a vaccination is never more effective than natural immunity, it's preferred because it's less risky.

For the same reason we have flu jabs being made available every year I suppose.

Mutation is clearly one factor but there are countless others and your claim of "natural immunity" from previously having the virus doesn't mean you won't catch it again, as we already know.

I didn't say natural immunity means you can't catch it again if it mutates - but neither does a jab. The idea that you'd be safer sat next to someone who has had a jab as opposed to someone who actually caught the virus and whose body fought it off is nonsense. That's never the case.

If the virus mutates seasonally, there are two ways to build immunity - to catch it or to have a vaccination. That will be the case for as often as it mutates into something our antibodies are of no use in fending off.

Again, the only benefit of a vaccination as opposed to actually catching the virus is it's a lot safer. In terms of spreading the virus or personal immunity, definitively not.

I'm not convinced when the vaccine is available everyone offered it will take the offer up, I may find myself sat at games with fellow fans who have not been vaccinated and might have tested Covid positive in the past there is little I can do.
As you say I'm classed as in the high risk category no presumably about it unfortunately, and could possibly be offered the vaccine relatively soon they say it's safe but it's hardly had any long term trials so I either take it and put my faith in the experts or take my chance as I am, there would be many things I would like to do which maybe are not wise to do without the injection.
A difficult call but I'll have the injection as and when offered and hope I don't get any side effects like getting the urge to watch Leeds United .

So you agree with Jon that we don't really need the vaccine because natural immunisation is better but just to be safe you're going to get the vaccine?

There's a bit of a conflict there in your posts.

That's not what I'm saying. We need a vaccine - but at this point, I do not need it.

A typical Monkey reply, I try to answer your loaded post why do I bother.

Of course I'm going to get the vaccine even in your reply you suggest me being in the "at risk category", if I'd caught Covid previously from someone who had been infected and I'd fought it off I would still get the vaccine if offered why wouldn't I, even the medical experts haven't said those who have had it and generated a natural immunity may get it again, I'm in a high risk category so any advantage I could get from an injection I would be silly not to.

I know people who have had the virus and although they are home, they have suffered scarring to their lungs which has restricted their mobility. Their ability to climb stairs when carrying a shopping bag is very difficult for them. One of them was playing regular sport, prior to this! So it is the lesser reported consequences which are very concerning. While there is the chance of this, l would be avoiding situations, where the potential for transmission is high.

Ticketmaster are planning on rolling out an app where you have to register your vaccine or negative test to activate your online ticket for events.

the idea is two fold, one to check people are negative or vaccinated and two to stop Tickets getting sold on

My cardio took a big hit, I'm not saying I was fit, I wasn't, but walking regularly was not an issue - it takes it out of me now though, so I can imagine there is some lung damage.

How did they find out they had scarring? GP?

I just had a brief telephone chat with G. I assume that the results must be from scans, but the GP apparently told them of the diagnosis.
