FWIW, I didn't want the blank weekend the bye would bring and if we beat Shrewsbury, Chichester away would be a great draw for me. I don't live too far away and it would be guaranteed to be a TV game with a great chance of getting to round 3

 

Depends on who is fit at that point. Chances are we will have picked up a few more injuries and some may have returned by then. Really no chance of thinking about which team to pick for the cup this far away from it.
All concentration on port vale. Then Macc. Etc.

If we pick the team for the Shrewsbury cup tie that you suggest we would probably lose 4-0 and you’d want Bowyer sacking for that result . It’s not as though it’s a fixture problem as saturdays are reserved for the 1st two rounds, this is a difficult tie but one we could win and could lead to serious money as happened in 2014/15. Just surrendering this tie is not an option.

I was quoting Stefan so I have no idea what constitutes a good cup run in his mind. In my mind it means getting to Round 4 at least and if we go out there we go out to a big team with a share of good gate money and the prize money from Rounds 1,2 and 3. If we do better than that then great.
I was not including the EFL/ Leasing .com Trophy as I don't believe we will qualify for the later stages, the prize money until the end is not as great and we have already demonstrated what you get if you play less than your best team.

 

Funnily enough, I was listening Gary Bowyer's pre match press conference and he agrees with Fordy. He said something along the lines of resting key players if we're still ravished with injuries and talked about a cup run costing him at Blackburn when fatigue set in. He clearly acknowledges the risk involved and is seemingly not going to take any chances in positions where we are already threadbare. The right thing to do imo.

 

If he was a Second West regular he'd have known that.

Just because you man utd fans boycotted the competition a few years back does not mean us Bradford city fans feel the same. More money for the promotion party.

 

Got to play as strong a team as possible now not just for giving players minutes but also so we give ourselves as good a chance as possible of not having another week off at the end of the month.
Even without that I'd still say to play a strong team as it's no lose situation, if we lose then it's expected and if we win that builds some great momentum and confidence.

 

Obviously this club is failing atm, we don’t need you reminding us every 2 minutes. But the damage from the last 18 months is done and now we move on.

Regardless of your opinion Gary and the team are doing well, have a bit of perspective for once, every other relegated team is in the bottom half it’s not a computer game it’s not as easy as you like us to think it is. Oh and the 3 other teams all ended comfortably ahead of us last season.
