Because he doesn't want to come out and say Billy Clarke is Vaughan's replacement.

 

Define quality...? it's been desire that's missing, and going that extra mile and getting at the other side, something we usually see in our opponents....

 

Promotion obviously. Any time Bradford City are in the 4th division that should be the expectation.

Whether I actually believe we're good enough to do it is a completely different matter.

 

I expect autos I also expect West Ham to finish in a Champions League spot

 

At least this thread isn't full of people saying how bad we are, how poor our team is, how we're a small side who are where we should be historically speaking, but then demanding top three.

 

I believe we will get the 3 players in that we need, but this season will depend largely on luck with injuries. Not just for us but for all teams. We might scrape the play offs if injuries don’t hit too hard. Every club bar 1 or 2 will be significantly weaker this term, due to loss of income, but this salary cap will only benefit the smaller teams in the league that would have struggled to meet the 1.5m limit in the first place, thus wouldn’t have needed to cut their cloth. Expect Harrogate to do ok along with Forrest green. Thoroughly depressing.

 

Unbelievably I agree with a lot of what you have said on this thread Fordy! But...How is Billy Clarke Vaughan's replacement? He isn't even a striker. I admit though it's a big worry that we haven't got a replacement striker in yet.

Of course it should, otherwise what's the F-ing point?
As others have said, a big factor is going to be luck around injuries, something we haven't been blessed with in recent years so I'm quite worried about that. I'm also concerned that we are still lacking (imo) 4 quality signings so I'm quite worried about that as well. But yeah, I definitely expect promotion and at this stage, I reckon I'm about 7 or 8 weeks away from having that expectation well and truly demolished.

 

Cooke has already been told he will be playing AM which in my mind is Clarke's best position and at Grimsby Clarks played up front in a 3.

You just have to think about the situation. McCsll knew we had 3 forwards already contracted to the club in Novak, Donaldson and Guthrie. Vaughan was also contracted to the club but wanted to leave. That meant 1 space in the forward position, so we signed Clarke. We signed Clarke knowing Vaughan was going to leave.

Vaughan leaves and now we have Novak,Guthrie, Clarke and Donaldson!

No room for another forward.

 

Clarke is McCartan's replacement mate. Agree though, with the current squad, we will be nowhere near the top 3, we will struggle to trouble the top 7 without 3 or 4 more players, which I cannot see happening.

I have written this season off. A lot of the rubbish McCall has inherited will be off our books next summer, and until then, give us little chance this season. Never in 55 years of watching, have I not looked forward to a new season, until now

As I say, Clarke played up top last season.

Either way it doesn't matter. Guthrie, Novak and Donaldson then are not good enough to take us to where we want to go.

The overall squad isn't good enough.

McCall is left with the crap mate because we don't have a sporting director. If Mcall leaves he will then leave the crap he signed to the next manager and so..

Rhodes hasn't a clue what he's doing on the football side and Rupp doesn't seem bothered. We won't get far at all with these two. Rhodes & Rupo are the major problem in why we won't progress.

When it's a shambles at the top then it works it way down. Look at Barcelona as an example.

He is wrong about Clarke being Vaughans replacement Guthrie was signed immediately when Vaughan went on loan to Tranmere no one at the club expected or wanted (due to his wages) back
Am yet to hear a plausible explanation why we signed Clarke other than he is local and has played for us before strange signing a player for the third time

 

Think if we are not top 4 at Christmas he won't have the choice
Hopefully we will have a new CEO by then

 

Who knows but, what if some have the quality that Huddersfield had ?

 

Think we made Huddersfield Juniors look better than they actually are we were very poor the second half
Quite scary when you consider Hudds are a Championship side where we have aspirations to be and can't even compete with their juniors

 

Not sure at this moment, so I'll wait.

Whilst I have reservations of our squad, I'm yet to be dumbfounded by the quality of other teams squads. And these are most certainly uncertain times. I do believe that some club(s) may not or will bloody struggle to complete the season.

So I'm gonna hang on with my prediction until the transfer window closes, had chance to take a look at each and all times.
