England were the better side. Disappointing to lose to the French.

 

This referee wouldn't look out of place officiating in League Two with Deadman and Drysdale.

 

Why anyone rates Southgate is beyond me.

 

You didn't watch many of the Morocco matches did you?

 

Getting us to final of Euro 2021. Getting us to semi final of World Cup 2018. Had a good chance of getting us to final of World Cup 2022 if Kane hadn't have lost his nerve with that awful penalty.

He picked the right team and nothing wrong with his tactics yesterday. You cannot blame him for Kane's penalty miss or the ref for missing the foul on Saka leading to their goal.

We more than matched the World champions last night, not sure what else he could have done?

I hope Southgate decides to stay and lead us into next Euro's. I have a feeling he will quit though, and you will have your wish.

I think the decision to leave will be Southgate’s call. He hasn’t done a bad job and the way he’s built the team spirit has been fantastic. That said, have we really surpassed expectations in any tournament? We just lost to the first decent side we’ve faced in Qatar.

what worries me is that if Southgate leaves, Mourinho and Tuchel have been mentioned as possible replacements. What’s the point in going for another defensive manager?

The whole reason fans want Southgate out is his negative approach.

i respect both, but if they are the leading alternatives I’d rather Southgate leads us into the Euros.

Mount wasn’t in possession of the ball so it isn’t classed as a clear goal scoring opportunity.

 

All with hugely favourable draws. Has he won a single tournament game where we were underdogs or even against comparable opponents? Maybe the one game against Germany - but a poor Germany and on our own home ground.

2018 we needed pens to overcome Colombia, a win against Sweden that we should be doing and then a loss against Croatia.

2020 - we beat Ukraine and Denmark (only just).

As soon as we come up against a decent side, we go out. He lacks bravery as a manager. He's completely dull in terms of personality and it shows in his teams.

 

I saw enough of them to know I was massively more entertained than watching England.
The fact is that England, very much like City this season never seem to do enough in the opposition half to justify winning games.

Very even match and could have been much higher scoring. Gutted for Kane tbh - pressure was immense. Thought he would bang it down the middle. No guarantee we would have gone on to win it.

Referee was awful. League 2 bound.

Was anyone else screaming for them to get out to Griezmann prior to that cross?

 

When France wanted to get on top, they did. At 1-0, they sat off and although we had plenty of the ball, did we create much? At 1-1, I think we could have been bolder and made substitutions to really go after France. That's one of my biggest criticisms of Southgate - he doesn't affect games through smart use of substitutions and tactical changes. And with 5 subs now available, its a more important feature of a managers role than ever before.

 

I thought there was some absolute nonsense posted on City threads but some of the she-ite on this thread will certainly take some beating.

Need to quicken tempo and be more direct.Our slow pedestrian build up is getting us nowhere when we cannot deliver a final pass..

 

Agree,I just hope Saka was injured with our best player been subbed,you didn’t see France take any of they best players off,Rashford should have come on with 30 mins left not 4mins left.
