My point is I think he’s a poor keeper and the fact he’s been relegated with 2 different teams in successive seasons whilst being part of the current schitt show tells me that he cannot communicate with his back 4.
Was very close to him on Saturday and I never heard him once shout instructions to his defence. He’s supposed to be the captain and should be the loudest voice on the pitch.

I'm shocked he's captain. Amazed in fact but it's like McCall is saying to Rhodes this team has no leaders.

Don't know what you want from a keeper in div 2 or before it div1.

Not many keepers stand out at this level unless you loan one for a PL club like we did with Pickford back in the day.

 

Well we let Jonny Mac leave because we brought in Pickford on loan. Oh what we’d pay to have him back now. That’s the quality I expect in league 1/2

 

The idea that Jonny Mac is a better goalkeeper than Richard O'Donnell is pretty amusing.

He's definitely made better career choices, making him either smarter or in possession of a better agent, but there's no way he's better than ROD.

 

I'd keep Sykes-Kenworthy, sign a far more experienced keeper, threaten him with game time, then relieve him of his duties by sending him to Dover Athletic or wherever.

Is Jonny Mac one of those players that's magically great because he played for a bab Championship side and now an underachieving League One 'giant'?

I know City players get better the longer they've been away from the club, but I don't see it with Jonny Mac.

I'll say it again, I don't see what McGhee has done wrong. Granted no clean sheets, but he definitely prevented bigger scorelines when he was in goal. As someone posted, OD doesn't seem to have any command of is area. The only time I see him shouting or directing players, is shortly after he's picked the ball out of his net.

 

Think both keepers are very similar. Neither really commanded areas when i've seen them play. Neither really have great distribution but maybe R O'D shades that. Remember a game Mcgee played under the lights and he must have booted goal kicks into the stands 6 or 7 times in the second half.

He is on 4K a week at Pompey, wonder if we have some clause where we don't pay if he doesn't play? Or only cover a certain amount. Seems to be usually if you have 2 first team keepers and the Number 1 isn't performing, you try the other. Might be a financial reason why we haven't gone to him.

 

Richard O'Donnell is and always has been a liability when it comes to basic goalkeeping.
He is totally leftsided both left handed and leftfooted. Well coached sides will have earmarked him as an opportunity when you shoot to his right hand.
Saturday was a classic example both goals went there and he gets away with it because we change our coaching staff so often they all come in and think he is good enough.
He is not a good goalkeeper no matter how loud his voice is after the event.

OK - here's my contribution for what it's worth. Since McCall's last term at Vp we have had (sorry if I've lost count) I make it 6 managers. Last summer Bowyer discarded I think 14 players and brought in at least the same number again. Funnily enough, as they were mostly League 2 players as well they weren't much better or worse than the ones they replaced (they were just players that Bowyer knew). So from a position where we were holding our own, not looking great but hanging in there, around Christmas the groundswell starts again - quote 'the players are sh**e, the manager's sh*te, the Board's sh**e, the pitch is ...' well,you get the idea. The stewards always get a good press. We might as well set it to music!
Has anybody thought that there might be some merit in a bit of continuity? Allowing a manager a couple of seasons to bring in a couple of key players and get them playing how he wants them? So that he can mould the team around them? The chance to bring younger players into a settled squad, so that their confidence is enhanced rather than crushed by the inevitable experience of only getting a game when we're desparate? Because you ain't gonna get superstars who'll come in and change things round - in League 2 you're only going to get journeymen and youngsters. So, for me, wholesale changes are just going to perpetuate the same cycle, and lead to the continued opportunity (which some on here seme to welcome) of booing your own player off the pitch.
Oh and while I'm in the mood, nobody, but nobody, whether they call themselves a Bantam fan or not, is going to tell me that I can't applaud the team I support, or renew a season ticket if I want to.
Call me a happy clapper if you want, but all you're doing is disseminating poison and division throughout the fan base.

Given the choice, I'd only keep Wood.
Unfortunately we've several defenders contracted for next season that are not league two play-off/promotion material.
21/22 before we'll build something capable of getting out of this horrendously poor division ( the right way)

 

He is also a Scottish international,but are they bab as well?.
