I've been pretty critical of Watt but, TBF, I don't think he enjoyed playing under Deadly Derek's style of anti-football. Sparky had him playing more to his potential by the season's end. He's on record that he wants his midfield to be able to play quick passes on the half turn, to make things happen, and Watt can do that.
If MH can get him to cut out the reckless tackles and focus on what he does well then we have a very good player on our hands. I'm sure he'd be better staying here and developing under Hughes than likely sitting on the bench in L1.

 

He's exactly what we need here. Young, fits into Hughes's style and was integral last quarter of the season. Psychologically we like to rubbish players to lessen the loss. Just accept it's part and parcel of being a lower division club and move on

 

A year under Hughes does well he gets himself a championship move and on four times the amount he’s getting at Salford. Crazy decision he’s been really poorly advised.

Out of those 3 Id probably look to keep Vernam. I like he is direct and has a goal in him. A problem causer.

Hughes needs a Watt type in his team but neat footballers who can pick a 10 yard pass are 10 a penny - sounds like we already replaced him with East. Paudie is easily replaceable.

 

Thought that was our starting 11 next season.

 

Could be that he's agreed terms elsewhere but the clubs are still in negotiations around the compensation fee

 

I would be pretty surprised if watt returns. Would have expected this to have been done. Reckon city could be haggling over compo with another club.

Yeah, exactly, I think we now know that Watt will leave whenever he gets a better opportunity, but we're in L2, what do we expect?

Fair play, I say, I hold nothing against Meredith when he held out, and I hold nothing against him for leaving for Millwall to play in the Championship - if we'd have won at Wembley, he'd have stayed.

I think the front three behind Angol will end up Perriera, Walker, Chapman. Harratt will be either competition for Angol or play in a front two with him if we go two up top.

 

If Watt hasn't got anything fixed up by now, he needs to realise his agent is a bit shit.

Not for being unable to secure a move to a club in a higher division, but for talking incessantly about it then failing to deliver.

If you don't get a better offer, you don't get a better offer, but Watt's agent has been a blabbermouth the whole time linking his client to all sorts of clubs. If those 'links' are just bullshit, then that's poor work.

 

If true very good move for him and I wish him well. Hopefully their RB will come the over way and everyone’s a winner.

Well thats a side step. Hardly an ambitious move. They probably offerred him a few extra quid a week.

Think we are better off without. We wont have been paying him peanuts in comparison.
