    could not care less, personally.

I want the club to do well in it, but only because the prize money isn't bad now. 10k per win in the group stage.

    Hi, Dave :)

No, nah ........ I don't care !! This poxed up trophy is just a very minor, but annoying disruption to a lower league / lower cousin to the Officers at the 'top table'. WE neither want, or need it.
I've personally NOT attended ONE game in any sponsorship guise of this, nor do I intend to.
Promotion is ALWAYS a number one priority. To boost revenue ? We have adequate in the L Cup, and FA Cup .
It's up to City to capitalise on those three, rather than frog kiss a fourth nonentity, which hinders.

I will continue to boycott this competition whilst it continues to include 'B' teams.

However, I hope Gary Bowyer makes good use of the competition, to give run outs to those fringe players that need the extra game time and those coming back from injury, whilst pocketing a bit of prize money.

I get what you are saying BUT let’s consider the winners of said trophy since the turn of the century.

Southampton- League1 runners up and promoted the follow year
Carlisle- just missed out of the POs that season and finished 8th the season after
Chesterfield- finished 3rd bottom the season they won the trophy and finished 8h in L2 the season following
Crewe- finished 13th followed by 19th the season after
Posh- lost in the POs followed by 9th the season after
Bristol C- Champions of L1 followed by 18th in Championship
Barnsley- finished 6th and promoted to Championship via POs, followed by a 14th place finish
Coventry- finished 23rd and relegated followed by a 6th place finish and promotion via the POs
Lincoln1 finished 7th and lost PO semi, followed by finishing 1st and promotion.
Pompey- finished 4th and lost in POs. Unknown how they will fare next season

So, as you can see, a mixed bag, but most did well the season they won it, or did well the season following. So not that much of a distraction/hindrance and actually can work in the club’s favour?

I agree. Good chance for Reece, GSK and others to get game time. Give them some minutes and proper football exposure.

I thought this cup was just an extension of the ridiculous Rahic era when every footballing decision was clearly bollocks.

I'm alarmed to see that now the Edin era is over this ridiculous charade of a cup is ongoing...

How many first team players do we have to play in these games?

    It seems to change every season, but the latest rule appears to be;

“Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet”

    Fair points.
However - Much as City have tried to tug their Balls off, in this competition - their name is still missing from your list. ;)

    OH wow !!! ....... Yawn .... repeatedly !!

I'm equally sure the Sheikhs at Man City are Sheikhin' as much as I am about this.

Don't get me wrong. I abhor this competition, and all it doesn't stand for. But I just love the interest shown by posters on here. Life in football would be so DULL, without a MAJOR Trophy involved ...............

It would be great if this was a League Cup draw and proper first XIs. Maybe something for the EFL to think about going forward.

This competition is absolutely shite and the League Cup has lost the magic it had in the 80s and 90s.

I just get more insulted as a fan of a lower league team every time this joke rears its head. Has the penny not dropped that not a single person in the country gives a singular shit about the under 23 teams?

Not bothered about winning it but whilst we’re in it we may as well use it the best we can. Mainly giving game time to players not in the starting lineup on a regular basis and maybe some of the younger kids that we are hopefully trying to develop.

Further down the line in the season we may need them so it might pay dividends for them to be getting game time in the early part of the season.
