Sport will come back mate but behind closed doors.
Force Majuere won't apply as lawyers would of looked into this a million times now and the tv contract will be breached. It's been mentioned lots on tv and radio.
Why do you think Boris isn't closing pubs, restaurants, gyms etc? It's because insurance companies don't have to pay out but when he says close the they is a high possibility they will have too.
Anyway, the situation will go on for a long time but no way TV, Bookies etc will be wanting it to carry on for much longer.
Sky seem to be on an agenda. Stories like that will put many companies out of business.

2 weeks Boris has told us all not to go to pubs, restaurants, gyms etc but they all remain open and people still going. This isn't about panic. It's serious but like Gary Neville said last night and papers are highlighting it's down to insurance why he isn't forcing it.
You're hanging on to Force Majeure but nothing is saying it will apply. Nothing and Boris is highlighting that by being so god damn weak. True leaders make tough decisions.
I'm PM now needs to do more to look after sport along with the PL, EFL and others.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
Behind closed doors can happen for Pl but you're right EFL need more thought but this is why 50m isn't nowhere near enough at this moment.
No point ending this season then next season starts in 2 years that will drive people crazy.
Sport helps the society in a positive mental way. People need sport.
I do think clubs like Hearts are using the situation as an excuse to cut wage bills after poor recruitment and large squads this will also start in this country unless the EFL, government and PL in this country do more.Stop hovering to collapse... I think they need to consider this season finished. Come up with an outcome - either void it, or some other means of locking down positions. Plan for how next season is managed. It's less of a knock on impact and you can make assumptions around delays, for example and hopefully for 1 season only:
No domestic cups of any kind next season.
Revised format of European cups to reduce fixtures. No leagues, all ties over 1 leg only, drawn with home and away teams. Apply seeding if necessary.
No winter break.
No international friendlies - a problem ahead of a summer tournament but so be it, everyone will be in the same boat. Run the Euro's Mid June to Mid July. The following season can start early sept so the players get 3 weeks break and 3 weeks pre season.
That way, every club in every league will have in the region of 46 games max. Assuming 2 games a week most weeks, you can complete the season in 6 months. Assume next season starts in Nov, but you can have a month's contingency in case its Dec. If Social distancing remains in place at the start of the season and its possible, games to be played behind closed doors.
The lower league clubs will be hit financially by the loss of the cups, so they'll need to be compensated.
I don't see any way of finishing this season without MASSIVE upheaval to subsequent seasons.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

If the TV companies are looking to make reduced payments then on the same basis the TV company customers should be entitled to a refund as they have not received as advertised what they bought into.

The only fair way is to finish the season whenever that is. Teams like Liverpool and Leeds have earned their right To their reward

I wonder if the wage subsidies announced this afternoon from the impressive chancellor can be used by football clubs

However, yes it can as football is a business. It's up to 2.5k per employee and 80% of that.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

Leeds and Birmingham are many clubs in the Championship asking players to defer on wages or take pay cuts.
Think the EFL might have dig deeper.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
I'm sure it's all helpful for the many clubs which will have cash flow issues without matchday income coming into the coffers. But it certainly isn't the EFL/PL dipping into their own pockets to subsidise clubs through this difficult time. And if we are waiting for PL clubs to subsidise the EFL, I suspect we will be waiting a very long time.
I agree with you. There will be some inevitable casualties throughout the EFL pyramid and that's to be expected given what the country is going through. But it's still only a game. There really are life and death issues which are far more important than this. Apologies to Bill Shankly! -
@wetherbywhaler yes mate you're collect the money by the EFL are advanced payments the clubs would have got anyway.
Thanks for your views.
I don't see the point in ending the season and if it is to end it has to be settled some how. I just don't see the point in ending the season. Gives clubs no hope.
The sporting Industry is getting hammered and I do think many will go to the wall. If Leeds are asking for players to defer wages then other clubs will be in deep trouble including ours. I agree many clubs will go to the wall.
The PL will go behind closed doors and my guess like the retail industry they've been informed by the government the greater plans for the country. McDonalds and Primark didn't just close on Monday without being informed by government what the plans were hence PL talking about behind closed doors games 1st of June.
Rugby and maybe cricket could be done with if don't start sport soon.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
I keep hearing whispers that the SPL are going to stop and name Celtic as champs with all other Leagues in Scotland frozen with no promotion or relegation but additional payments of some sort to clubs in promotion positions, only rumour.
As to England I believe Liverpool will be crowned Champs with Leeds and WBA promoted and financial settlements on the also rans and more clubs down from the PL at the end of next season, again rumour. -
I think the PL, EFL and FA will do what ever the lawyers think will be the cheapest option
