Very good and true article. A member of the EFL Board told me two weeks ago there is an expectation that six clubs will be in serious difficulty this close season and may even fail. The Premier and Championship don't care so long as their money keeps rolling in. Things have to change, Shaun Harvey leaving the EFL will be a start but that is only my personal view.

There needs to be root and branch change - the gap between the championship and Leagues 1/2 is growing year on year. It wouldn't surprise me to see those leagues become permanently separated, i.e. no promotion beyond League 1 - or perhaps, promotion based partly on league performance and partly on financial strength.
Clubs are going to start going bust, very soon. We need our own solution - we've not been a well run club of late, and we seem to be carrying unsustainable financial risk around how we spend, and how we price tickets etc. I don't know what the answer is.
To be honest, I've become sickened by football at the highest level.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...RonnieBrown, RCarol, Bronco and 1 other person like this. -

The same is true about a lot of clubs. Only way it will stop is if clubs take a stand but as it can not be done on mass it would be footballing suicide for individual clubs to do it

Just read this from Kieran Maguire about the finances of Rotherham United. Bankrolled by Tony Stewart in terms of infrastructure and new ground but now look a sustainable club, money in the bank and making a profit. Certainly against the grain in todays money hungry football world but does show it can be done.Bronco likes this. -

The Premier League and Championship clubs might encounter the same problems soon. There is a big discussion going on at the moment about abolishing domestic league qualification for the Champions League and replacing it with a ring fenced "promotion and relegation" system where the best teams automatically qualify for the Champions League and some teams get relegated/promoted to the competition based upon their performance. Anyone with half a brain knows it's just a European Super League via the back door. The domestic leagues are fighting it but unless they take a stand UEFA seem to be in favor of the proposals.
What will happen to the Premier League if the big 5/6 all automatically qualify for the Champions League regardless of league position? -
