Lots of chat around what next if Hughes were to go. Simple question do people trust that the leadership and ownership would get the next appointment right?

Unless you want to throw in your personal advice or someone else’s takeover bid, we are stuck with it like it or not. Facts are facts no matter what we as fans, opine.

If you could provide a solution to the above conundrum I’m sure many of us will take it on board and respond.

No, which is why I think sacking Hughes is pointless - (unless he plays 5atb against Harrogate)

I trust Sparks to do a good job in raising money for the club, I trust Rupp in covering the extra costs that Hughes' ever expanding squad must be costing, but do I trust either of them in appointing a new manager ? No, never. Rahic may have been the poison but since we sacked Stuart (the second time) we seem to have lost the second brain cell required to rub two together, and Social Media Boy is a big part behind that.

That said, the Chuckle Brother's got it wrong far too many times before Parky walked in the door, in many ways - Archie Christie, Peter Jackson, Peter Taylor, David Weatherall, (sacking) Colin Todd when they did, perhaps not giving Colin Cooper a chance. Rhodes continued to get it wrong after Rahic buggered off.

My perfect scenario, given we are stuck with an absentee owner, would be to entice Dave Baldwin back as MD, side swipe Sparks back to commercial activity and get some real football brains back in the building. Some would say James Mason instead of Baldwin, but I believe he got it very lucky being CEO with Parkinson in charge and is more suited to what he is doing now.

He will - I absolutely guarantee you that he will start with Platt/ Stubbs & Tompkinson, and if we win he will claim that JT was the missing link.

Based on the last few years simply no .........but .......all the managers that they have brought in where met with massive approval by our fan base
I cannot recall mass grumbles when Bowyer,Adams and Hughes where given the job ...............so not got a clue is it psychological?????

This is where our lack of at least one "football man" at the top
    Bites us on the backside
Structure at the top is wrong and tumbles down on to the pitch

Hells bells,if some of you think we have a bad owner with Rupp just been reading what’s happening at Scunthorpe. Having got rid of owner Swann who got them down to National league north, they now have a guy called Hilton who’s had three previous names with fraud charges against his other identities. Rupp and Sparks may run an unexciting ship but we are in paradise compared to this.

I see Tranmere who had a technical director, a director of football by any other name has been made manager after the manager was sacked.
Good idea cut out the middleman

Going by the logic of comparing everything to the worst case, we'd be stuck in a never-ending loop of mediocrity. The standard we'd be content with would always hover just a notch above rock bottom. It's like telling Scunthorpe, 'Hey, at least you haven't pulled a Bury... yet.' You could essentially have us mirror Scunthorpe's downfall and as long as the relative divisional gap between the clubs was maintained then you could always say, "Well, at least we aren't Scunthorpe".

We're far from 'paradise'. If we were to tumble down to the National League, would some still say we're living large because we haven't hit NLN? And if we're teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, would the consolation be"Well, at least we're still in League 2 unlike _____"? Even if relegation did hit us, would the next comfort be "At least the club's still standing"? How far down do we have to slide before we say enough is enough? Must we hit absolute rock bottom before we voice our concerns about how the club's being managed?

If we consistently measure the severity or importance of an issue by comparing it to the worst-case scenario, we inadvertently set a very low bar for improvement and satisfaction.

Imagine if every time someone pointed out a flaw or an area of improvement, the response was, "Well, at least it's not as bad as [worst possible scenario]". There'd be no innovation, no proactive problem-solving, and it'd perpetuate mediocrity (where we are at ironically). Over time, the standard for what is considered "acceptable" or "good enough" would gravitate towards being just slightly better than the absolute worst.

Apologies if it sounds like a lecture but it's a really poor mindset.

It's a great mindset and If we are looking at other clubs then ffs look at clubs that are a lot smaller who are doing a hell of a lot better than us ...............folk keep harping on about us being a lower league the majority of our existence and we should just accept that ..........sod that we should look back over the last decade and what this club did become ......... a club on the brink of the Championship , a club that beat up on PL teams for fun , a club that created one of the greatest shocks in FA Cup history and finally a club that reached a major final ..........not this crap that we are viewing sadly folk seem content to be crap, I for one am far from happy ,17k fans is amazing at level but what's so sad is that folk are content to wallow in this division

If Hughes has anything at all about him he will go with a flat back four next Saturday. Anything else is management suicide.

I pray Hughes agrees with you Rog, but he's a stubborn fool and I'm sure he will start with his wonder formation again. I wouldn't be surprised if he even "rested" Bobby Pointon.

He ain't that daft. No manager would dare drop a lad after the 45 minutes he had second half. It helped get the best out of Halliday, would be utterly bonkers to go back to three CBs.

All I can say my friend a little more briefly than your good self,be careful what you wish for. Rupp and Sparks may be despised by some but there is no sign of them taking us to oblivion. Indeed we were closer to relegation under Lawn and Rhodes in 2011/12 and 2010/11 than the current regime. It’s not perfect at the minute, but a good manager would get us promotion with the current budget, but after the celebration dies down when we are eventually taken over who knows what’s next. I’ve lived through the Bob Martin days with his sidekick John Garside.
