Sorry but do people think Elliot Watt is a saleable asset? For how much?? He is awful and wont be touched by anyone in League 2 at the moment never mind League 1. We have no assets. Our squad is bang average.

It’s all to do with data. He’s probably a good player in a good team so we haven’t seen the best of him.

He nearly went in the summer. If Leeds had signed Lewis O’Brien the rumour was Town would come in for Watts.

I couldn’t see that in a million years Silver, Watt is nowhere near the quality of O’Brien.

It wasn't doubt another "rumour" eminating from the online City community like Staunton to Arsenal, O'Connor back to Leeds (buyback clause), Danny Rowe to Real Madrid and Ryan Sparks to any of the Deloitte top 20 as CEO.

Crankshaw wasn't even playing and we sold him. He scored one goal.

Watt is playing, and has been linked with moves on multiple occasions. Hull were named last season as a potential buyer.

It's possible we'll sell him, we might receive a bid, we might not.

Agree, and the same for Cooke - both effective players in a good team. Sadly they’ve both not performed to the levels we expect, especially Watt this season. However there is no way I would be considering moving them, unless the fee was too ridiculous to refuse, and would prefer to see us strengthening around them.

    100%.

The argument of moving on talented players because they might do better in a higher division is something I couldn't possibly agree with.

Cooke creates so many chances, he'd be going for £1 million if there was someone at the top end putting away all those chances.

We need to find the guy to capitalise on Cooke, not sell Cooke.

Don't agree. Cooke makes us pedestrian and a worse 'team'

It doesn't matter. If you create chances and you take them, you can play at any pace you want.

Pedestrian or dynamic are terms at opposite ends of the spectrum that don't dictate success or failure.

I could understand maybe selling Watt. He seems underwhelming to me no matter what role you give him but Cooke especially at the start of the season was your best player. He may not score lots but attacking midfielders aren't always goalscorers, they can also be chance creators and he creates a lot for you, your only problem is the players who should be putting these chances away are not clinical enough.

The biggest problem with selling either though is you would most likely need to replace them as the replacements currently in the squad seem to spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.

TBH your best bet would simply be cheap loans as you can't afford to offload players with decent injury records and no-one is going to want the crocks so you are unlikely to make the squad better by offloading them

It's actually a shame that they haven't seemed to be been thinking ahead like some other clubs have. There was actually a story in the Athletic about a change that Man Utd have been doing where we have started doing these 'Pro experience' loans which are 1-week loans to other clubs. These players can't play but as part of the deal the clubs have to include them in their first-team training and even taken to any matches in that period where they get to travel, be in the dressing room and be involved in all the warm-up and warm-down sessions so as to get more experience of being both in the match day squad and also 1st team training. So far Hugill and Wellens have gone to Forest Green, McNeil and Hoogewerf to Sheffield Wed with Bennett and Mee going to Wimbledon. The clubs not only get a nice payment from United, if the experience is good for the players and United then if these players come up for a proper loan or any other player might be available for a loan that's going to give these clubs an advantage to get the player in and most likely at better terms. If City could have gotten involved in that kind of thing be it with United or perhaps other clubs as you would think if other clubs weren't doing it others have jumped on the bandwagon and it could have helped you pick up some good cheap loans in Jan. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if in Jan FGR take a United player on loan and are paying pretty much nothing in return due to the positive experience giving them more depth while you may have a harder time getting cheap or free loans of players who might provide a positive contribution

Of all our players Calum Cooke is the most comfortable with the ball at his feet and he keeps the ball well, but I can't for the life of me figure out the stats that have him top of some table for, what is it, chances created? Unless taking the ball to the edge of the area, failing to take responsibility, turning back and passing to a team mate to attempt a shot from outside a crowded area, counts as creating a chance. Now even having said that I still think he a decent player, just not the chance creating machine the stats have us believe.

It's key passes that he is top of. Which is a stat with a completed bass into the "red zone" or xG area which can be turned into a scoring opportunity. Basically, every teams corner takers are at the top of the list. However, he's only got 4 assists from his 60+ completed key passes. Couple from corners come to mind, but i think in open play he only has 2 assists.

It's a better stat than the god awful Connor Wood stat everyone stupidly went mental over a few years back of the most balls in the box in the EFL by this time of year.... when you dug a little deeper he had one assist and a cross completion of around 10% from memory.

It makes be laugh the way you juggle between using "you" when you have your Man Utd head on, and "we" when you have your BCFC head on.

Very good analysis of Callum Cooke. Absolutely spot on. His total inability to drive into the box are what holds him and us back.

He drives me nuts because he has the ability. You are right he needs to drive on when he gets in the area, force the defender to make the hard decision and commit himself, rather than making the decision for him
