Offcomedun for me this is a really spot on analysis of where we are currently at. And yes, they're trying to do it on the cheap with Adams. However, I still think Adams will get us up. He shares the Alex Ferguson philosophy (as outlined at length in his autobiography), to wit the last third of the season is where everything happens and that's what you have to be more fully prepared for. As long as Adams has us in touch of the automatics come Feb and March, and he's made a couple of astute January signings to jog us along the way, that'll be the final section of the season he's been concentrating on all along right from the start. If Adams gets us promoted does that let Rupp off the hook? I don't think so. He'll know he has to invest more to make us competitive in League 1. Whatever, two things for me - I want to get out of this shitty carsey league and I would love a new owner.

And when those thousands call it a day, where does that leave us paying 1 million every year for a stadium too big for us.

According to Adams there will be signings in January... everyone's had a fair chance but we need more steel in the team

I wouldn’t say he doesn’t care, he’s just not going to put the club in massive debt again like Rahic did in 2018/19 when we had a 4.5 million budget and got relegated. I’d love him to donate a few million to us so we could have a big splash in the transfer market but very few owners do that. Rhodes and Lawn relied on cup runs which we haven’t had since 2015 and remember the first five years of Lawns tenure were pretty dreadful. It would be great if we got took over by a multi millionaire who would let us have a massive budget but there aren’t many around who are prepared to do that. I’ve heard supporters screaming for Mike Ashley to buy City but Newcastle fans wanted him out because he wasn’t prepared to put the club in massive debt chasing a dream. He would run City in exactly the way it’s run now with a player budget that’s not loss making.

Adams for me it is do or die, yes some of players already here yes some signed before arrival but then see the shit that also came in after you joined. Wanted small squad just like McCall and injuries and you knackered parky had big squad and was ok. Then again we had reserve team that got stopped by powers that be.
O’Donnell poor keeper but bench when fit hornby gone backwards and must of wondering why he signed again.
Threlkeld /dawson average and can’t tell which game going to turn up for.
    Foulds poor
    Ridehalgh best signing
Kellerher not good enough poor and not know why we brought him if play midfield as centre half.
Paudie and canavan best pairing when fit.
    Songo decent signing
    Sutton on his day handful
Watt poor gone backwards should of cashed in
    Evans passed it
    Scales not good enough
    Cooke on his day quality
    Gilly poor signing
    Vernam top player
Cook needs a partner need two up top
Lavery and Robinson never ever going to score waste of wages
    Eisa ????
Angol missed but not the answer should of got Stockton
    Sikora Staunton not good enough.

as you can see need about six or seven players and get rid but who going to want them???? Rant over!!!!!!!

January is ages away, things need an immediate shake up as it could be far worse by then.

We do need an immediake shake up, yeah. Canavan back at CB and Songoo in for Watt IMO.

cant see what else we can do short term but Jan does give us the possibility of bringing in fresh faces from the new recruitment structure we set up.

    No chance.
With talk of covid passports and the continuing increase in covid cases there is no way we spend money in January. Sparks has already said this will cost the club a chunk of money.
We will no doubt need to move players on before adding

I wonder if Steve Bruce fancies a move back to Yorkshire? Ticks a lot of boxes, including working with a stubborn/disliked/tight owner, working for a massive club, working with demanding fans, and working with a below average team. Get him tapped up straight after he’s shown the door in a week or so!

With his £8million pay off he could buy the club, the ground and pay off all the contracts of our slackers......(and still be quids in)...

Just need the usual comment of "we are well prepared and have identified our targets" before panic signing at the last minute

I'm not convinced that Rupp has no interest in the club. It's simply that his interest in the club is different to yours or mine or that of most other fans. It goes without saying that we all want success on the pitch and to get promoted out of this bloody division. I suspect Rupp's interest is very different to our own. He has no history with the club and isn't even a football fan. His sporting interests lie elsewhere and his involvement with us rests solely with protecting the €6million it cost him to buy the club. Rupp is content for the club to tick over, without making a loss, so long as he isn't forced into spending more of his own money ... even at the cost of the club becoming a permanent fixture of the khazi division. If we get promoted, it's a bonus for Rupp.

And where are we now? Bottom tier of the football league. Its because money hasn't been spent, that we're now in this position, a position that really doesn't make any sense for our current owner to spend. It all started years ago. As much as we like to point fingers at Rupp, we shouldn't forget that we've been in freefall for season after season.

I've said this may times on here and I could be completely wrong, but I don't think Rupp ever bought the club with the sole idea of it being a profitable investment. To him I think it was another "boys toy" - something his mates haven't got.

I'd agree with that if he'd played with his "toy" more. As it stands we seem more like something his mum bought him for Xmas that he didn't ask for.

That suggests to me I'm giving him more credit than he's due, even the top 6 clubs who thought they'd just join a super league were brought back down to earth by their fans.
If he believes he can do the same then he needs to be very weary, he was hours away from the publicity that the "fly bye" would have brought both him and Rahic I'd assume not showing them both in a good light, Jon was asked to cancel it at very short notice, what's been done in the past could be done again and carried out, I wonder what his mates might think then.

    Agreed.

and while he remains passive in the background, we’ll get nowhere.

we needed to back the manager but they’ve taken the attitude that because adams polished turds at Morecambe he’d do the same here.

i must admit, after our start I thought he had done.

now our season basically rests on Angol firing in 20 goals and Canavan plugging our leaky defence.

no one knows why Canavan is out and Angol isn’t a goalscorer
