A standard wage in football. Clubs often underpay staff as they know they'll get people with the attraction of working in football. Only surprise in this is that we've not done what a lot of clubs do and go for trying to get someone on an unpaid internship or work experience

Any work in football is a big draw, it's why more and more non-league clubs have bigger media teams than ever before with highlights and interviews with live social media updates with graphics. We would be looking at university leavers who will see us as a stepping stone and have dreams of working for a Premier League club.

A lot of water under the bridge since then mate, I get it fans will never agree 100% and it wouldn't be worth posting if that was the case, unfortunately at times this forum is becoming hard work, I try to keep it light hearted but do worry about the odd few posters who believe supporting Bradford City a toil, although I posted myself last season home games were a difficult watch, even with the years I've been watching I'd sack it if I felt as disillusioned as some are quoting.

What will any potential future employer reading a CV know or frankly care about Sparks or Rupp.

I agree Jon, I think they have someone lined up but need to go down the open recruitment aspect first to meet any legal requirements.

 

That comment made me think of the Gareth Keenan role in The Office, the one who puts the stapler in jelly. Working for Sparks must be along the lines of working for David Brent.

 

I've heard it from some one at the club that a certain S Spielberg has applied, but keep it yourself.

 

Might be something in this. He certainly has experience of temples of doom.

 

I don't recall anyone moaning about previous promo campaigns-quite the opposite.

 

With the age of some of the players we've signed....Gods Waiting Room might be more apt.

 

They are trying their best to not say that the job listing is for someone fresh out of Uni.... because most people with experience and worth wont take content job at £24k a year if they have experience in the field. I know football tends to underpay as it's seen as a "if you're good, a big club will take you and then you make your money" type business for this level, but that is still a very low pay and these days that's the first thing people see.

A few months ago, I saw that City had an advert for a Marketing CRM managers role and it was just over a £30k salary. I was working with our firms Marketing team at the time and they saw the listing and he said you'll only get people with little experience, just out of uni, or someone wanting a role for a year or two until retirement applying for marketing management jobs at that salary. He said our marketing analysts were making more than this management listing.

 

It's a great first job, to be fair.

It doesn't really matter what the club do or who runs it, the visibility of the work and therefore validity and quality of the appointees portfolio is there for all to see.

I'm not sure the idea of working with Rupp or Sparks would stop a young person who wants to make a mark from applying, nor should it. They actually seem to prioritize this kind of thing, so are probably a good boss in this particular field.

What the club does and how it's run as an actual football club will be zero reflection of the person who takes the job and the work they are able to do.
