Surely the vacancy advertised on the club website should be ideal for someone on here. I have read some total content creation on here with very little background in reality and fact so it should be ideal.

Only issue I can see is that they are looking ideally for someone with a degree but are onyl offering a few pence over the new minimum wage not exactly aiming high, or are they aiming for a City fan?

A standard wage in football. Clubs often underpay staff as they know they'll get people with the attraction of working in football. Only surprise in this is that we've not done what a lot of clubs do and go for trying to get someone on an unpaid internship or work experience

I get that if it would look good on a CV for later work but not sure how much pull working at VP under Sparks and Rupp will have on the CV

Any work in football is a big draw, it's why more and more non-league clubs have bigger media teams than ever before with highlights and interviews with live social media updates with graphics. We would be looking at university leavers who will see us as a stepping stone and have dreams of working for a Premier League club.

What is the actual point of your last 9 words…..Really?

What will any potential future employer reading a CV know or frankly care about Sparks or Rupp.

    That’s not you!

They are trying their best to not say that the job listing is for someone fresh out of Uni.... because most people with experience and worth wont take content job at £24k a year if they have experience in the field. I know football tends to underpay as it's seen as a "if you're good, a big club will take you and then you make your money" type business for this level, but that is still a very low pay and these days that's the first thing people see.

A few months ago, I saw that City had an advert for a Marketing CRM managers role and it was just over a £30k salary. I was working with our firms Marketing team at the time and they saw the listing and he said you'll only get people with little experience, just out of uni, or someone wanting a role for a year or two until retirement applying for marketing management jobs at that salary. He said our marketing analysts were making more than this management listing.

It's a great first job, to be fair.

It doesn't really matter what the club do or who runs it, the visibility of the work and therefore validity and quality of the appointees portfolio is there for all to see.

I'm not sure the idea of working with Rupp or Sparks would stop a young person who wants to make a mark from applying, nor should it. They actually seem to prioritize this kind of thing, so are probably a good boss in this particular field.

What the club does and how it's run as an actual football club will be zero reflection of the person who takes the job and the work they are able to do.

The thing is though there is underpaying and there is taking the piss. They want the following
    • A complete Film-maker who can envision, film and edit videos
    • A Social media Manager
    • A graphic designer but not just someone doing Photoshop and Indesign work but doing motion graphics
And they aren't just wanting someone who they are looking to train in these things, they want someone with experience in doing these 3 things that are separate jobs in themselves

On top of that they effectively want you to be a junior brand manager.

They are all full-time jobs really but you are expected to do them all in a standard week and get paid what's even a fairly low wage for a Junior doing just 1 of these

Are they though? If they were then surely the 1+ year work experience of carrying out those roles would be desired not essential? There is absolutely no way someone comes out of Uni with 1+ years experience in what is 3.5 separate job.

I read it, and they really do seem to be demanding that, plus a year's worth of experience in a professional capacity in sports.

I guess someone has to be doing something similar somewhere.

We seemed to raid Featherstone Rovers a while back, so probably someone from somewhere similar. Probably a candidate in mind, too, hence the ability to be so demanding.

I agree Jon, I think they have someone lined up but need to go down the open recruitment aspect first to meet any legal requirements.

it was more that if they were working for peanuts at a big name club under a big name ceo, or at least a known name, then it might be worth something when applying for the next job but working for Sparks isn’t going to open any doors or impress anyone

That comment made me think of the Gareth Keenan role in The Office, the one who puts the stapler in jelly. Working for Sparks must be along the lines of working for David Brent.

It’s Tim who puts the stapler in Jelly, Gareth is the ‘victim’.

I've heard it from some one at the club that a certain S Spielberg has applied, but keep it yourself.
