Defeat Incoming

Despite rarely dominating games we do create it’s just it’s usually in bursts so it doesn’t always look great for long periods, below is an interesting stat and the top 4 are well ahead of 5th. Most teams in league 2 just aren’t very good. No doubt we’ll lose but I don’t think it’s due to how we’re playing it’s just we are league 2 and we’ll have ups and downs.

We're definitely creating chances both on the break and while we're in possession.

If Stockport press then the likes of Crichlow and Platt could struggle. The teams we've played so far who've done well against us have a high press. Problem for them is that they can't maintain that and we have quality to bring on and take the game away. If we can keep a clean sheet under the inevitable spell of pressure, then I'm fairly confident we can go on and win the game.

 

Hughes post match interview referring to us 'not being at our usual level'. I disagree, I thought it was our usual level. Bright in patches, sloppy and weak defensively for spells too. That's us in pretty much every game, and I'd sat the 'proof' is that Hughes seems to be referring to us 'not being at our usual level' quite often.

I'd say it's an indication that we're flaky defensively too. Crichlow in particular has no real interest I 'proper' defending.

 

Not sure about that we have come under real pressure defensively so far this season and in the main part come out on top

 

This whole thread sums up the pain and pleasure of being a City supporter (or similar long term underachievers). Of course we will lose some more games and we often win against bertter teams and lose against poor ones. I am focusing on the fact that Stockport were many bookies favourites for promotion before the season started, so really we are underdogs!

 

The majority of that is down to Lewis, in my opinion. He's been excellent. Platt has been pretty good but Crichlow has blown hot and cold. Fine in a foot race and decent on the ball. But poor when he's asked to defend his penalty box and we look weak defensively on the flanks too.

 

From the small sample size I've seen, I'd much prefer Timi in there. Strong, extremely quick, likes to dominate and is our player to boot.

He might not look as smooth and silky as Critchlow but he does look a better fit for the physical side of League 2.

 

Totally agree with that. I'd also be interested in seeing us play with a 3 at the back again. Largely because it would allow us to get 2 strikers on the pitch and I think Oliver next to Cook, or even Harratt, could be a real threat.

His pace is electric…A number of times recently he’s got back with covering tackles when he had no right to , and several times his burst past players going forward is impressive say the least. I said a few weeks ago…his time will come.

 

Harratt not on the showing the other night. He just tried too hard and made a mess of most touches.
