For what it is worth I think the article was correct and a damn sight better than anything Parker has written. , I didn’t pick anything xenophobic from the article ie it was not particularly anti German apart from saying he is in Germany all the time. Well yes that is because he lives there.

 

Yes I think most things are true.

My objection has not strictly been about protests but more aimed at fans who believe boycotting games and not renewing ST’s is the way.

Boycotting games already paid for won't cause change. That's just a symbolic protest. We know that already. The threat of losing ST revenue next season is much more of a catalyst for Rupp et al to take notice of. And it seems they have.

What do you say to the thousands of fans not renewing their ST for next season? The vast majority who are not on here or registered with the ISG.

 

I think the people who choose not to renew their season tickets are doing so because they’re bored of the entertainment on offer. Simple as that. Not as some kind of protest or an attempt to force change.

 

3 of my family not renewing due to the boredom factor. They might regret their decision, but they feel they need a season out.

The T and A is a shadow of it's former self, circulation down to a quarter of what it was , at less than 5000 copies a day.
It started to rot once printing was moved from the building on Hall ings.
I do not think it will last very much longer.

 

I don't think it's an either or situation but I do agree the majority of people not renewing are probably doing so due to apathy and not having the stomach for another disappointing season in league 2, but that in itself is a form of protest is it not? They are still saying quietly 'this isn't good enough, I'm fed up of being bored on Saturday afternoons and until the product on offer improves, I'm going to do something else with my time'.

 

If and its a big If, we do well next season, this could work out for the club.
Lets say 5000 do not renew, but half pay on the gate on a match by match basis , that could be approx £50,000 per game
x23 £1.1 million, so with the 10000 paying extra , the club would probably be no worse off and significantly better off if they do really well.
All hypothetical at this stage.
If i was Ryan Sparks i would extend the season ticket deadline a little , to let people see what happens with players contracts etc.

 

The thing is on the DD scheme the first payment isn’t taken until June, so that in itself is an extension.
Renew now and if summer transfer dealings are not great, cancel direct debit.
Yes the club might chase and moan but it’s not a legally binding credit agreement so they really can’t ask for money for something you’ve not yet received.
