It was interesting watching the sale of Pompey by the Supporters Trust (together with a handful of wealthy Pompey fans) to Eisner unfold. Coincidentally it was over the same period as when R&R were buying City and for a similar amount (£5-6m) although Eisner also acquired Fratton Park as part of the deal. The sale prospectus said that the Supporters Trust couldn't finance Pompey's future and wouldn't have the money to be able to get the club promoted into the Championship. It would only however sell the club to somebody who could take the club forward. A familiar story! And the club was bought by Michael Eisner on that basis.

I suspect that if (a huge if!) a supporter based body had the means to buy-out our current owners, they'd have the same problem as the Pompey Supporters Trust further down the line and be looking for somebody else to take the club forward!

I went to all those games as well as all the others in the run of atrocious form post January. Some of the worst football i had seen played by a Bradford City side. McCalls achilles heel at times was worrying way too much about apparent strengths of the opposition to the point of self destruction. Sheffield United and Plymouth at home immediately spring to mind. Where i will counter this is how McCall held together what was a pathetically inadequate squad of players given to him to a point of keeping them in the play offs for so long. A disastrous transfer window pretty much sealed his fate as Bradford City manager. Even signing a manager with arguably the best league one record amongst all managers could not halt the slide, that tells you all you need to know about how woeful that squad of players was. McCall had a role to play in the decline of that squad but in the grand scheme of things that role was only a small percentage when all factors were taken into account.

That is key. We do not know the running costs of the club, which we would clearly need to fully understand which would be part of our business plan. I do not know all of the answers, but if there is a real will from the support this could work. I do not know how a football club works financially, but it still has to be a manageable business.

We need to see the current cash flow and budget plans then find the weaknesses. This will not help what we do on the field, but it will make it ours. Management of the players is a different skill set.

If there is some real interest on here I would be happy to arrange a meeting to see who wants to make a diff3erence and who can help. We are at a recent weak time which is a good time to get involved.

This whole thing might implode, but at least I had a go. Been going to City with my best Buddy since 1974/5, so we are not newbies and we are currently fortunate enough to be still in business.

I run a business in Bradford and I would be happy to donate some time to get this launched.

Higher ticket prices would have to be an element. Which would run the risk reduced attendances.

We'd be reliant on at least some contributions from wealthier supporters.

It's the biggest challenge we'd face.

Realistically our only feasible 'option' would be another wealthy owner/consortium.

Under the previous owners, we were running a £750 (Approx) deficit in this division, we would have to find a way to make that up and find more if we did manage to get promoted.

Not sure. You raise good thoughts but we cannot assume points of failure without fully understanding the challenge and also the opportunity.

I will back off for a bit and see if there is a mood to push this forwards or not. We are alive but once.

I am not sure if this site allows a vote - perhaps a question for the moderators.

We can arrange a public discussion in Bradford if there is enough interest.

Funny thing is that players, owners and (some) managers move on but we stay with the club. Makes sense for it to be ours.

OK did you go to Gilingham, Posh, MK Dons, Pompey (unbeaten at home), Wigan (unbeaten at home) where Paul Cook was gracious in his praise of the first team to go to Wigan last season and attack them listen below?, Shrewsbury (unbeaten at home), Fleetwood took a battering from them first half with the wind in our faces then turned it around and beat them easy.
I believe @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart said a 45% win ratio and a playoff final in a season and a half, and that's with all the poor home results, he's not beyond criticism but after having us 7 points clear of the chasing pack, sacking him got us nowhere as MR Championship manager could not get any better results out of the players and he had the help of 4 new faces in January.

What would it take to buy the club? £6m?

    2000 fans pay £3000.

    Possible.

A fan owned club seems all lovely and nice but lets face it, doesn't really work does it.

Buying the club is one thing. Having the additional money to take it forward into the Championship is another. And having the significant additional money to sustain our club in the Championship is yet another matter.

You only have to consider what other owners (usually fans admittedly) have invested in their clubs in seeking promotion (and not always successfully) to get an idea of how much in addition to buying the club would be required.

If you need to put in £400k a year to compete, That's £200 a year each.

Think of how much we currently spunk on that development squad.

    I appreciate that.

I'm just so fearful of another stint in League 2.

In a perfect world, all clubs would be fan owned (and by fan owned, I mean owned by all the fans, not just one or two rich ones. Its how many clubs started out.

However, in this world of unequal finances, a fan owned club would almost certainly be fighting a losing battle from the start.

By 'compete', do you mean push for promotion?

If so, you're at least an order of magnitude out if the experiences of Sheffield, Wigan, Scunthorpe, Millwall, Blackburn, Bolton, Bristol, Brentford etc in recent times are anything to go by!
