Subs Sykes Kenworthy, McCarten, Bruckner, Vincelot, NKP , Chicksen, Gibson. The likes of Poleon, Patrick, Devine, Isherwood, Hudson are not even on the bench so it's not a bad squad even without any more additions,although I'm sure there will be one or two outgoing and incoming before the start. Providing they don't down tools again we should be competitive.

 

Still lacks any creativity. Drop Dieng for a proper creative number 10 or drop Dieng and Jones for two good Wingers and then it looks much better.

 

IF that's the case, the coaching team will have their work cut out this pre-season, as City appear to struggle with a back three formation. I actually like the idea, personally - But if you are to implement a system, then it's better to do it well, rather than poorly, before you start.

 

Wingers are a bit of a dying race now. Creative number 10 I like which is where McCarten could come in. It's all subjective and people will have their own ideas but the squad as it stands now is reasonably competitive and will certainly not get relegated. I'm sure there will be a few ins and outs before August 4

 

I quite like the look of this, I think we need a pacey striker though who will run in behind to partner Wyke. I think that’s essential with this system, as Chelsea have showed playing Hazard up top and England with Sterling. This may be Jones but it’s tough to say given his injury record and lack of playing time.

I also think we need at least one more winger to give us options to change the tactics if needed. At the moment we’re forced into this system due to like of wide options, it would be nice to have the option of going with 4 at the back and playing wingers.

 

This is the squad that didn't average a point a game in 2018. It's not an over reaction.

That's because for whatever reason they downed tools.

 

They weren't good enough. Not enough quality. Not enough strength in depth.

 

We could make a decent first 11 with that, but that's nowhere near enough as we saw this season with injuries, suspension and form.

I'd argue the squad is already to big, but with not enough quality throughout. A good squad of around 22-23 you need imo.

I'd like to see; Vincelot, Dieng, Patrick, Poleon and Bruenker leave.

Bring them 3 in, in addition to a quality left back and striker and we are looking well set for next season.

 

McCartan is not a Billy Clarke type player, more of a runner with the ball.

On the Whole I've been generally positive about our new recruits. I'm not sure if it's enough for a promotion push but a massive improvement in comparison to the shit we were signing last season.

 

Back 4 already looks decent to be honest, irrespective of the strength of the Left Back position. We currently have a solid keeper, 2 proven performers at CB and someone highly rated in Riley. A quality LB in addition to that would be brilliant. I can't see us signing anyone else there now so let's hope it's Wood.
