Reports from Sussex are suggesting that Crawley Town (one of the clubs named by The Athletic as WAGMI's plan B after failing to buy us) are about to be bought out by "some Americans".

I suspect there is some confusion here. The 3rd kit itself won't be an NFT since that doesn't make sense for something tangible such as clothing. What they intend to do apparently is make the 3rd kit available only to those fans who buy an NFT in the club itself. What this NFT is is open to speculation at this stage but I guess it will be akin to a share in the club which would convey some rights to the NFT 'investor' eg a virtual ST for non UK 'fans' or being involved in certain discussions but stopping short of any ownership rights which a real shareholder would have. It sounds like it's an attempt to tap into the global NFT community as well as local Crawley fans. It's very similar to part of the model which the Wagmi guy hinted at when he approached us and my own doubts of the viability of this model haven't gone away.

Only a week to go until we find out how much NFT money Crawley have to play with as they outspend everyone else on their way to the PL... https://wagmiunited.com/

It looks like they've finally gone some way to being transparent about who is in their consortium (if you consider using names such as Andy8052 and jpegviceroy as being transparent) and there are a lot of names missing who were in the frame whilst they were flirting with City. The most noticeable absentee is Philadelpia 76ers president Daryl Morey who was the big name giving legitimacy to their sporting credentials. Another name which is conspicuous by its absence is Bryce Hall who would appear to have been dropped after CTFC fans found out that he has some racially aggravated assault type baggage and questioned why Wagmi were happy for him to stay on board when John Yems was given the boot. YouTuber Caspar Lee is missing and probably more importantly from a business know how and investment credibility perspective so are Universal Music Group gen manager Celine Joshua and Coinbase senior director David Farmer. On the venture capital side there's no mention of Tiger Global or Slow Ventures but Courtside Ventures do remain in the frame.

They do seem to have lost a few of their more notable blue chip investors, I'd be intrigued to know if the amateurish City takeover attempt caused some people to have second thoughts?

This is, umm, certainly going to be an interesting ride for the Crawley fans!

The new owners are even referencing the creepy Crawley nickname

    CRAWLEY SCRAMBLING FOR OPPONENT AGAIN

Crawley Town's struggle to arrange friendly matches for their training camp in Murcia next week does not bode well for their first full season under new owners, cryptocurrency investors WAGMI United.

The League Two club suffered embarrassment on Friday when they announced a game against Qatar Sports Club only to cancel it a few hours later on the grounds that the fixture did not align with their political values.

Crawley are now seeking their third set of opponents for a training game after their owners scrapped a planned match against Bradford due to the fallout from their failed takeover bid for the Bantams last season.

Crawley planning to bring about £4m in to the club (less expenses) after selling 12,000 of their 3rd kit on Friday for £335 each.

TBF for that you also get a hat and scarf and free tickets to "some" home matches, "special input" on the future of Crawley Town FC, a bunch of online content type stuff and the promise of more unspecified things in the future!

BTW, the season tickets cost less than that.

Good luck to them but I'd imagine City would get absolutely no where near those numbers at the stated price so it's definitely a tough sell for Crawley.

They're not really marketing it to Crawley fans, they're aiming for their NFT community so it's all about NFT, Wagmi, the "chromie squiggle" and a Ltd edition Adidas shirt. Even so, having kept an eye on their Discord and Twitter it does seem that they don't have universal buy in from that community and the launch has been put back 2 days "because it has gone so well" (their reason) which is a logic that baffles me and the general consensus seems to be that it's going to be a big ask to shift that many at that price.

    It's not being marketed as £330, it's a trade for a pre-invested amount of 0.35 ETH.

It's a specific community being asked to buy in, certainly not pre-existing Crawley fans who will just buy a season ticket.

12,000 seems like a lot... But that NFT community has a voracious appetite for content...

I'm not sure how well this will work, but it's intriguing...

Hearts fans are underwhelmed that Crawley are their pre-season opponents at Tynecastle next week. In the past they have hosted Barcelona and Manchester City.
