I think the people of Keighley will get to understand the rather complex signs in Asda about 3 months after restrictions are removed.
These signs include:
No Entry
Keep 2m apart
I wish Asda had made the signs much easier to understand.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Offside likes this. -
So, how are we coping with the face mask rules now in force in shops.
Been to Lane ends Morrisons this morning, didn't see a single person without.
Good effort by all, if all the selfish prats behave it should help to stop the spread.
If you don't like it or can't wear one stay away and get home deliveries, and stay off public transport.
And before anyone bleats about freedom, I don't give a toss.Bronco likes this. -
Inside they had a sort of system, which meant you had to queue to get to the checkout, but as l was shopping for a housebound relative and an additional ‘self isolating’ neighbour, I went to the conveyor belt ‘self checkout’ so I could separate the items Into three different shops. When the bar code wasn’t recognised or it needed the member of staff to call over because of a fault in the system, they didn’t wait for me to distance!
Got a ‘click and collect’ yesterday from Tesco. They had swapped Items and I ended up with loads of beef but had actually wanted a smaller amount of lamb! -
I have been to all the big supermarkets except Tesco over lockdown. It seems that Sainsbury and Waitrose have much more space and wider aisles, and also seem to allow fewer shoppers in store. Feels a much more distanced and safer experience. I do feel the Asda and Morrisons I have visited are employing all the measures but are much more cramped and therefore feel less distanced. The exception is Morrisons in Hunslet who for some inexplicable reason have closed the ends of the aisles by the checkouts, meaning you go down the aisle and have to do a U turn at the end, coming back past everyone coming the other way
-
There are two Tesco’s near where l live. One has wide aisles, the other has far less floor space, but still seems slightly wider than Morrison’s. However both Tesco’s have a clearly marked blue arrow ‘one-way’ system which virtually everyone adheres to. -

Not at all. There were assistants coming right up to my driver's door window asking my name, instead of going to the passenger side. Then a bloke brought out a trolley with a load of carrier bags on that I had to load into the boot myself. He then came right up next to me to collect the trolley without waiting for me to get back in the car. Given all the publicity I'd seen from Tesco about how they were reorganising their stores, I was gobsmacked by how sloppy the click & collect was.
I haven't been near a supermarket since then. Getting weekly veg deliveries from a local greengrocer and a supermarket delivery every three weeks or so from whoever I can get a slot with. -

Been having Morrisons home delivery when they first introduced it, great service, our lass makes her order out gets a slot and she can amend it up until 24 or so hours before delivery. They take the goods (all bagged) and ring the door bell they are left on the doorstep, we wear gloves and wipe every item down with wipes,.
We paid £30 or so for 12 months delivery, it's a great service, I would recommend the service be it Morrisons or any other Supermarket. -
Putting some aside in case the worst happens?
I see Waitrose as an occasional treat, maybe £20-£30 to upgrade for a nice family meal. I just can’t imagine the cost of a big shop there! -

Obviously there are many people being hit hard financially by the virus, either because they are furloughed or self employed or their business can't open. But there are also many people who are working from home, or retired, on their normal income but with no social life, travel, holidays etc on which to spend it. So the extra £30 on a big shop from Waitrose is neither here nor there to those people. -
Let's be honest the supermarkets pulled the wool over the weak government eyes. Supermarkets could have done home delivery only or we could have just used the local shops.
The queuing outside the supermarkets is just for show because no matter which supermarket you go into all of them don't care about the social distancing rules once inside. It will be the same when the shops open.
I would say the most common place to catch covid 19 is in a supermarket right now.
If supermarkets were serious then the following should Talk place:
Before you enter you should be temperature checked.
No more than 2 people from the same family allowed inside.
People should wear gloves and masks to be allowed inside
All tills should be open to quicken up service
Problem is this government doesn't have a clue about business, so the businesses just take the mick out of them like the Furlough scheme.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
