Social media positvely dripping with irony on this one. You spend days castigating your enemy for flouting the rules, then what? Yeah, your son goes and drops you right in it. But got to keep up that pretence you know, can't give the enemy a chance to throw the hypocrite card around.

What a bellend Morgan really is.

From what I've seen, over the last week or so the young people of this country have abandoned social distancing completely. Numerous groups of kids out in the countryside around Baildon, on the canal towpath etc, walking together as normal, sharing drinks and joints etc. Seems like the move to 'meet up to six people from different households outside but maintain two metres distance' has been interpreted as, 'do what the hell you want'.

I posted on here over 2 months ago about my nephew who is doing some of his post-doc research at a research lab in the northwest. They have three PCR machines - they're the ones used for analysis to detect viruses including Covid 19 - and capable of doing more than 1,000 tests a day. There are plenty more similar labs around the UK doing research all with similar testing equipment. Together they have a capacity or around 40,000 tests per day and the expertise, equipment, protocols, staffing to do them. The head of my nephew's lab has previously offered their testing facilities to PHE or whoever is managing the testing programmes. They've raised the issue direct with PHE, with one of Hancock's sidekicks and even referred it to their local MP. And they are still waiting for a reply two months later. The view is now that rather than use the plethora of testing and research labs attached to unis, hospitals, private research facilities, PHE want to concentrate testing at their three new mega lab centres rather than also use these other smaller labs.

Yes, it is unbelievable. It's a complete misuse of the country's highly regarded research and testing facilities.

Did you honestly expect any different? They struggle to run a competent country when the going is good, throw in a virus to mix things up and they are truly embarrassing. Remember, this supposed to be the cream of society running the country because they are best qualified to do so. Deary me, we'd be better off with Churchill the nodding dog in charge.

You'd have thought they might have learned the lessons from the Govt's own pandemic simulation (Exercise Cygnus) when most of the issues were identified but never implemented. Or as some other European govts did, they might have learned by looking at how the Mers and Sars pandemics were handled at the time in the affected countries. But no, they haven't learned.

Lessons can always be learned if you really want to learn and you're not too arrogant to learn from others.

Have a listen to this programme on Radio 4 from two days ago ...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000jmm3

The commentary on the UK's testing regime starts after about 2 mins and runs for about 13 mins.

There's a great comment that the PM has been stopped by somebody (no names, no packdrill) from making policy statements publicly!

The next generation will be the same. A production line straight out of Eton college with the same mindset as the people they replace.

Get rid of the lot and start again.

That's just impractical at this stage and the PM and his team will be running the show for the forseeable future. The things the PM and co can do however is to stop being so defensive and arrogant; to admit their own mistakes; and most importantly to learn from them. To continue to lie and deceive the population as it is doing on such an important and serious issue is criminal.

Oh I agree. It’s never going to happen. A real wish rather than a hope.

I think they think people will just forget. The 20000 aim we have blitzed for example.

Yes Keir Starmer is enjoying his time at the dispatch box on Wednesdays knock abouts, lets not forget the opposition is not just there to criticise the government, but to tell the British electorate what they would be offering instead, which I've not heard a lot of.
In fact it's very much like you on here you're very critical of everything but offer no positives going forward, and when asked to offer your expertise your reply is "I'm not a charity".
