    He isn't a leader! He's shocking.

You might as well have voted for Trump.

Think you need to look at the leader next time rather than the party. What do Conservatives stand for now anyway?

In one 20 minute press briefing, Boris has undone all the hard work in gaining backing from floating voters and some Labour voters and lost them I reckon. A massive own goal in my opinion

That's the PM's problem. Cummings has done a very good job for BJ both on Brexit and his appointment as PM. I doubt anybody else in his circle could have done something as well as that for BJ. For all sorts of reasons - mainly his own poor appointment decisions - he is surrounded by a group of incompetents with the odd proven backstabber thrown in for good measure. Cummings is his stand out performer and getting rid of him would leave the PM very exposed. THe PM has demonstarted that he has no command of the detail on important issues and Cummings covers that base for him. But I'm convinced in the eyes of the public that leaving Cummings in place will rebound dramatically on the PM and more and more will begin to question the PM's decisions and start to point their fingers.

History has taught us that few governments survive such events as major wars and major pandemics. After the Spanish Flu of 1918-19 a Liberal majority of 238 became a Conservative majority of 74 and, after the second world war, a Conservative majority of 242 became a Labour majority of 146. It happens to governments in democracies (& some that are not) all round the world.

Perhaps Boris believes, with such a long gap until the next election, he has nothing to lose. I suspect that it won't be whether or not Dominic Cummings stays or goes, that makes a decisive decision for the UK electorate.

As entertaining as such events are (and it was a poor briefing from Boris today), we need to move on and focus on the important issues.

On a different note, did anyone else notice the shambles that was the BBC at today's briefing?

First, there reporter couldn't get their microphone to work and then social distancing broke down at the BBC as others came over to try and get it fixed.

I think it was almost a mercy killing when 'Boris' cut him off in mid flow.

Sky news reporting that a retired teacher noted that he saw a man resembling Mr Cummings going for a walk and thus noted the car number plate. Yeah, freaky isn't it. Sky can now confirm the reg plate matched a car Mr has been in in the past.

Can somebody please make this madness end , the whole handling of the virus and the ensuing media whore circus has left me done. I'm not sure i can take listening to any more of this, i'm past caring about the whole thing.

Just wondering if Cummings apologises everything will be rosy it seems that way for these three Labour MPs who deified the lock down.
kinnock.jpg Labour MP Steven Kinnock traveled to his parents house for his fathers 78 birthday.
Ali.jpg Police have today formally warned city MP Tahir Ali for a suspected breach of Covid-19 restrictions after attending a funeral with up to 100 mourners.
welsh.jpg or maybe the Welsh Labour Health minister caught out eating chips with his family.
Ironically these three were all MPs not a political advisor yet that seem to be OK double standards me thinks.

Nail on head time. Those on the moral high horse need to make sure they've done their home when deriding others for their actions. The rank hypocrisy from both sides of the houses of parliament is sickening. And folk on here should remember this when lining up their agenda driven posts.

I agree that has got to be a big part of the reason Boris has stayed loyal to Cummings, the same way Blair stayed loyal to the likes of Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell, these three lied about Iraq and sent our lads in unequipped for the job, short of the basics to fight the enemy begging equipment from our American allies, just as bad as the NHS not having PPE to fight this war against Covid-19 I'd suggest.

That's the whole point, in the great scheme of things it didn't matter that much, a tut tut would suffice., now let's get on with finishing off this virus and getting brexit done....

I’m not the biggest cheerleader of a lot of the media, but if it wasn’t for journalism we would never have known what’s gone on. I’d say this weekend has been a win for good journalism.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion, I'm saying they have done similar to Cummings but they are hardly mentioned, and as I posted those three were MPs not a government advisor.

Agree but just a shame that most have shockingly low standards and would swap the truth for a headline most days of the week,

Cummings had Coronavirus symptoms and ignored the strict lockdown rules that he helped set, rules that you were calling folk dickheads for breaking just a matter of weeks ago, as I pointed out in an earlier post today, to which you still haven’t responded to btw.

Has anyone anywhere confirmed the distinctive registration number on the car the pensioner saw belongs to Cummins? As this would be the smoking gun, Although funny in a very popular tourist and walking area that he was the only one to see him
