It is good news. To go from the crisis zone really in terms of the outbreak of the virus to that is real progress

It is good news, but I guess you need to be seeing these low levels for a sustained period whilst things are continue to be more eased up. Also in outlying areas, not just London, albeit London has obviously been a fair epicentre For this, going off what we are told, so if that area shows sustained low levels, that has to be a positive indicator going forward, extrapolated broadly to other areas.

Getting the R number down in London, where there is a much higher use of public transport, does seem to suggest that there is some room for manoeuvre regarding the relaxation of some of the restrictions in place.

The whole planet is on a massive learning curve with this virus and, until (if) it is eliminated, governments are having to manage the incredibly difficult balancing act between keeping a lid on the virus and letting people get on with life. I do not envy those having to make those decisions.

That's the problem. The government haven't been making decisions or a tingling quick enough.

    Lockdown wasn't quick enough.
    Testing certainly not quick enough
Other countries have airport quarantine in place. We still haven't put rules in and due to that Airlines planning to restart and airports doing their own thing.
    PPE not supplied quick enough.
Wearing masks - other countries have enforced this and even airlines not our government
    2m social distance - it's 1-1.5 in other countries

I don't see the balancing act. I see a mess.

The government doesn't know what it's doing and you wonder why parents don't want to send their kids back to school.

Let's not make excuses and say we are learning. It's all about a lack of leadership here that is killing people and costing people their jobs.

Just wait until the end of the month when the Furlough changes come out then that will make grim reading for months after.

On the news last night there was a report from Denmark and the reporter said it was like stepping into a different world. Nothing has hardly changed for them just more measures to clean and combat things. They have had around 500 deaths I think.

We have to learn from them and places like South Korea and ensure if it comes around again we deal with it better.

As a nation we are too thick, stupid and stubborn to follow any guidelines.
It’ll hit, and hit hard again.

I agree with you both and know we will blunder ahead with our path.

If this disappears you can already see all track and trace officers will be let go as cuts bite etc. Funding to local authorities will be cut and the power for them to deal with it locally will disappear.

I think we would be more organised for any subsequent attacks but not sure if we could cope financially as a nation...

Hardly surprising though, I wouldn't trust half the nation to tie their own shoelaces. Not talking about university level brains either, just a complete lack of common sense.

Financially because of a recession? We could cope financially but will choose not to. We are in the top ten of richest nations on earth but choose to give out jobs for the boys and cut public services to the absolute minimum and then wonder why we can’t control it.

Makes me laugh now the deflection tactics have started with sky news following illegal immigrants ships coming in and being stopped on the English Channel. We continued to cut our border force down to dangerously low levels and then moan when we can’t stop it. Our government chose to do that. No one else’s. And I think that’s another reason we didn’t stop flights coming into the uk. We couldn’t enforce it with a lack of resources.

Problem Furlough now that. People getting paid but nothing to do.

Going to get worse until redundancies start at the end of the month.

I drove home through Headingley last night after strictly observed socially distanced golf. Then wondered why I bothered. At 9pm on Woodhouse Moor there were still numerous groups of 6-10 people having bbqs, playing football, sitting around. Definitely seems the new guidelines were too woolly for some to grasp.

As I have posted I have friends and relations living in Spain and they have a far different view on self isolation, as @MallorcaBantam@MallorcaBantam will confirm, and they live in apartment with no out door facilities.

So Krankie in Scotland has just said people have to wear face masks in shops and public transport.

Also you can't go to strangers houses. In other words selling houses isn't happening.

Do Scotland use different sciencients? Everything is just all over the shop in the U.K.
