First I've heard! Wouldn't need to plan much anyway. All the online stuff is there now so it could just be picked up again quite easily.

This video probably puts across my thoughts on the #ClapForCarers bollocks better than I could get across.

There’s a bit of swearing in it, so if you’re the pearl clutching type, look away.

The whole captain Tom thing makes me laugh. More and more people don’t vote anyone else but tories because they don’t want to pay any additional tax for the scroungers as they say but are quite happy donating nearly 25 million to a fund which is being used to fund the nhs minus any commission fees.

Yeah, Captain Tom’s a right tw@t! How very dare he.
Considering the shit the Labour Party offered up as an alternative to Bojo it was always going to be a non contest.

It’s very noble what he’s doing but I’ve got my theories on government related propaganda machine but I don’t want to go all tin foil hat so I’ll leave it as a noble gesture

    Yeah, we all have.
I reckon Boris never contracted The ‘Rona, he’s been disguised as an old man for the past few weeks walking around Chequers conning everyone to pay for the NHS, so his cronies can keep their trillions in their offshore tax haven.

The monies raised by Sir Tom and the charity behind the organising of it should not go to the NHS. The service should not need to be funded by handouts.

the person that told me is working with a number of schools to get laptops for all students that need them so that lessons can continue during another shutdown. They work with a number of large academy groups, mostly upper schools.

they are having to source a very large number of laptops and are struggling due to current demand

It may be the case north of the border but down here we're struggling to find enough power cords! It should be fine though; Matt Handcock is on the case and he's promised that there is sufficient capacity for everybody to have one by the end of term!

It is a good initiative to give children laptops but houses need Internet connection for them to be of use.

Major problem for my school. Going in next week to help with photocopying to create workbooks for children as they cannot access the Internet at home or haven't got a suitable device to use.

So I understand. A neighbour who is a principal at a private school was explaining to me how many kids (not at her school!) don't have routine access to the internet. It must be a real problem in some parts of our country. We take so much for granted.

Its causing issues for me at uni, my dads with sky and he doesnt even get 1mb per second down/upload speeds and for my course which is entirely computer based, i frequently have to up and download files in the range of tens of gigabytes which of course takes hours if they fully download at all. However the uni have essentially said this is my problem and not theirs and wont make allowances for me.

Blimey! What are you supposed to do inthat situation? Is it possible that you go and stand outside the Uni and get onto their wifi and download from there? Or is that impractical in your situation?

ps Your dad's is only marginally slower than downloads around here. But then this is the back of beyond.

I dont get why uni computer rooms a not open. My uni had Key Card entry open 24/7 limited, amount of people could go in.

It's making me sick that people in education are suffering from this lockdown no matter their age.

One of my colleagues was struggling working from home due to his unreliable internet. We got him a 4G router and now he has no problems at all. It works superbly.
