    100% this.

When Boris locks down London I might take him seriously.

Also soon from now he will need to lead because testing and more testing is the way forward and the scientists talking about social distancing but social distancing will only last for so long before people will start to ignore that and get on with being with their familes

Still didn't answer what your business is and posted a load of rubbish about supply and demand?

Interesting that Sweden who you were praising are trying to implement the hard immunity which I'm sure you blasted and slated the government for. Just be honest Fordy, you don't have a strong opinion and you go back forth on your thoughts depending on what article you've read that that day.

Hahaha, just watching Trump's live press conference, guy says "Domestic police in Seattle are reporting a dramatic increase in domestic violence..."

Trump legitimately just said "Mexican violence?"

    "Domestic violence."

    Holy... crap...

Seattle, for what it's worth, could not be much further from the Mexican border or high-density areas of a Hispanic populace...

On Sweden they have been neglecting their healthcare system for years and years like the Uk has. It spends more on their healthcare then any country in Europe.

Sweden are testing around 36k people per day.

Currently they're building more hospitals and all ready have equipment.

All their bars, restaurants are open but yes they are working on 60% might catch the virus ( (I believe Boris is working on we all get this) however they understand positivity is important for humans and want as much normality as possible.

Sweden were ready as can be for something like this. When you're ready you can relax a little in life.

We can all dress it up but testing is the key with all this and currently the UK are not doing enough testing! We are spreading it in house because we can test the NHS staff quick enough and we not enough close to testing the general public as yet.

The UK are way behind and it needs to change quickly.

Hang on, you want London to fully lock down on this post but on other posts you want us to go back to normal. You're all over the place.

I think Cuomo has done a great job orating what is going on. New York - like London - knew this was coming. The issue is what can you really do to stop it? I saw some stuff on twitter the other day and downloaded an app called FlightRadar24, it's free and quite interesting. When you get a chance have a look at flights internally in the USA, specifically in and out of NYC & other hotbeds. Same with London. It makes for really grim viewing. Especially as people have migrated away from the city - to places like CT, NY, and NJ. Try lock down a city out here like they did Wuhan and I dread to think the response.

Also, 4 of the top 10 BBC most read articles are about the USA. Noticed this is a theme throughout the pandemic. Proper gets on my tits when I'm trying to get the news about home and I'm reading about shite that doesn't affect 99% of the UK.

Personal outburst - but I needed to say it - apologies.

It is probably because everything from over here is covered constantly on TV and radio but because of time differences not so much for US

I think Boris is doing a decent job and trying his best to do everything possible to help everyone out .
Certainly helped my family in this desperate time.
He's a prime minister not a Dr or scientist!
So glad Boris is in charge rather then Theresa May or that prick Corbyn .

Think Fordy has made himself look at right Twit throughout this thread and I normally chuckle and enjoy reading his babble

    Mate, please read carefully.

The UK have decided to do a lockdown. The lockdown is done. If we are to do a lockdown for the next 2 weeks then we have to it correctly and that means locking didn't London the most most infected area of the UK.

We can't have any self employed working and the only construction & manufacturerimg that should take place is one to help our situation.

Then we go back to normal after the 2 weeks. However, we won't be going back to normal doing a lockdown like this be because people are still working unnecessarily and spending the virus, so more than likely this lockdown will continue.

We lack the testing and that is key! Testing, testing, testing!

Like it or not mate we have to go back to normality at some point.

To me it’s more his mouthpieces who are covering for him during his self isolation who are letting him down. Constantly making things up off cuff and then looking stupid. Gove prime candidate. Personally think his cabinet is weak.

    Your family are ok.. great!

How about the 1000 or so that have died because Boris was too busy thinking about Brexit.

How about the lack of testing currently? Lack of PPE for the NHS? Why is he using the labs around the country to help produce equipment quicker?

Mate, this virus isn't going away and it's not time to high 5 your family and think you're all safe! No family is out of the woods yet! If this lockdown continues you might change your tune in how he's helped your family out but never forget you're in this position because Boris was slow off the mark in Jan/Feb.

It's currently not the time to praise the government or to think about yourself.

Yes, the testing situation in the UK is a shambles as you describe it. The UK has been criticised by WHO for our poor testing regime and promises made but not delivered by a variety of people including both politicians and scientists. It hasn't been helped by the change of the Govt's strategy to deal with the crisis from relying initially on herd immunity (until as the FT and Times said 'the penny dropped' on how many would need to be infected or vaccinated - and die - to create the herd immunity)) and then within a week switching to the containment strategy which is what we noiw have. It is shambolic and we are still behind the curve on who should get tested for the virus and how many tests can be carried out. That's down to poor management and organisation of the testing regimes. There is more testing capacity than has been utilised to date. And when normally Govt supporting media such as the Telegraph, the Sun, the Mail, the Spectator and others criticise the Govt so openly, we should all realise that here is a serious problem.

    This makes interesting reading ...

It will be interesting to see if the lack of testing means our number of deaths per million population starts to diverge from the other countries. It seems to be currently tracking at roughly the same as countries that have tested a lot more, in fact they all seem to be tracking roughly the same

James O'Brien is discussing this very thing right now and for a guy who berates the government at the slightest opportunity, he's coming at it from a different angle, actually holding back somewhat from a full scale assault on Johnsons handling of the situation. The testing situation is a key point in the discussion, seems there are reasons as to why we haven't got to the numbers of Germany, not all of them the fault of Johnsons leadership. Seen Robert Peston pulled up by a government expert for not fully understanding the testing process and implications, its this sort of media coverage that does the situation no good at all. There's questioning the response of the government to the problem then theres spreading of false information by suppoesd renown journalists like Peston. I don't like the way the media have covered this whole scenario at all.
