I burger'd, the non non wife plant-base burger'd.

I'm not sure how I feel about these alternatives that are meant to give the impression of meat.

I get that people can enjoy the taste/texture of meat (no sniggering) but be against the ethics, but I think I'd rather ditch the meat entirely rather than have 'pretend'.

I do agree. And I don't like the whole meatless meatballs etc etc etc - rather call it what it is than what it's pretending to be!

I think it's a great alternative and I'm not getting tied up in the pedantic word play. It's round and you can put it in a burger bun, it's a burger.

Some of the ethics of farming these veggie products aren't so great when you delve deeper.

I suppose people have to set their own moral compass and live by it as strictly as they like. Living up here you see how hard the farmers work and how much they look after their animals. Must be heart breaking for them to be undercut by foreign meat with dreadful conditions and diet for the animals. I can't afford to buy from the farm shops or butchers at the moment but do make sure I buy British as I trust our farmers here.

 

Totally agree on the farming ethics, both trad and 'alternative'. (The sh1te that was in her burger earlier...)

Dairy too - I recently read some unpleasantness about that.

Meat-free 5 days out of 7 now (give or take), & organic dairy where poss/affordable.

But to be honest I'm lost with it all. The aubergine in last night's meat-free tea was flown in from somewhere which can't be great environmentally.

Got Jay Rayner's "A Greedy Man in a Hungry World" ordered to try and make some sense of it all.

 

It's tricky being a woke as fck hustler but retaining your badass status. I hear you bestie.
