Many years ago I was responsible for recruitment of student nurses for a university.

One of the academics decided that she wouldn't wait for the official system to send out acceptance letters to successful applicants. She did her own via a mail merge. Unfortunately she sent it to all the applicants... literally thousands. That was a melon farmer of a mess to sort out. Nothing more dangerous than an enthusiastic amateur.

i’m too scared to send anything out, now

i’ve told this one before, but when i was at the council yrs back you’d get some incredibly boring emails to multiple people. I think a combo of boredom and a bit of danger, you’d forward said mail to some compatriots with some sarcastic comment etc just for a laugh and to pass the time. Only one time i replied direct to the originator of the post with something like ‘this is absolutely fascinating, do tell me more’ to which i got a response actually telling me more. I’d like to think i got away with it, but maybe they were just punishing me over the next few emails as i feigned and kept up the pretence of interest. Could have been worse, i could have done ‘reply all’… worra dickhead

that’s what i did, but it brings in all the contacts names, but the email is not in the email field when you go into edit a contact. Instead it’d like a note at the foot of the edit dialogue box, so I just highlighted it, ctrl C and then ctrl V into the email field as if you block out the email and right mouse click you can copy, but if you then click on the email field expecting paste to come up, it doesn’t, hence why using CTRL keys. The lady explained how to import from her file which was great, just it puts all the names in but doesn’t assign the email to that contact, having to do it manually.

 

This is all great, but ultimately you would need to learn to fly fish and be able to recognise your ephemera danicas from your tricopteras.

 

i probably did it wrong i did follow her instruction though and there didn’t appear to be any options other than import or export, not that i saw. But moaning at microsoft aside (which is always justified), i freely acknowledge my limitations with this stuff as well as lack of patience.

 

Can you imagine how calm I was when it allowed you to copy using the mouse click, but not paste… i mean, life is just way too short for that kind of shit!!
