sounds good. To the Skye bridge it’s about 1.5 - 2 hrs from The Fort then skye itself is big, it take me 1.5hrs from my home to the bridge on a good day. Are you staying or just a flying visit? Near Fort William the Ardnamurchan peninsula is nice, there are some nice beaches right at the western tip (most westerly point of UK). You go over the wee ferry at Corran just before Fort W and head west to strontian.

if you come to Skye is basically become a bit of a tourist tick box list of sites to go to. The Cuillin mountains are a big draw, if you can see them, the best view imo is from near glenbrittle and the fairy pools (another attraction on the list) though you approach them at sligachan regardless as only one rd north, it splits at slig. The other main landmark is the old man of storr and the quiraing, which are near each other and are pretty amazing landscape. They get very busy but season is ending now. You need a fair bit of time to explore and depends what plan to do - walking/exploring, or want to see distilleries and stuff like that. The boat trip into loch coruisk from elgol is good, but depends if it will be running. There are quite a lot of boat trips set up, now all around Skye.

A bit further north from kyle of lochalsh (where skye bridge is), the pass over to Applecross is well worth a drive over, and then if time do the coastal rd north. Nice pub at Applecross. Plockton is nice as well, some nice pubs and places to eat. Skye has some top restaurants too.

sorry it’s vague, when we go say to the outer isles, we tend to buy an OS Map/s and some walking books - we’ll see the main popular things usually, but more often try to pick something away from the more popular routes. As i say, online you’ll find lists of all the main things to see on skye, the time you visit though it may be a lot quieter which would be good for visiting these places. We did the quirang loop walk in january it was stunning and quiet - only took me and the mrs 16 yrs to finally go and do it!

Wow thanks, we are driving up from Fort William so looks like we will struggle to take it all in on Skye but plenty to aim for that's for sure. We have 5 full days at FW and a couple of days in Edinburgh each end as we are getting the train up(strikes permitting) just noticed Celtic are in town on the 22nd so wife's birthday should be lively  Thanks for the info and looks like 9 days will not be enough so hopefully if it goes well some future trips should be on.
    Thanks again:thumbup:

whilst in the Fort, it’s worth a drive up Glen Nevis, there’s some nice walks up the glen along the River Nevis, there’s a visitor centre there. It’s where people start the walk up the Beinn.

Brew here too. And a couple of Welsh cakes. We've had less Welsh content since @bailiff bridge bantam@bailiff bridge bantam moved closer to home.

Who wants a meter update? Everybody? Ok, you asked.

I turned the gas supply off yesterday for 24 hours. Despite this the meter still registetred 4 units of usage.

For the layman, that's about the same as heating a bowl of soup on the hob for 4 hours. Your pan would be knackered and the soup burnt, granted.

I did as I was told and called the emergency gas line. An engineer turned up and confirmed it's not a leak.

I'm thinking of turning this into a podcast.
