Just about completed the wifes DIY list for me! Can get hold of a class A drug very easily but a 20KG bag of concrete mix? As rare as hens teeth.

 

No positives whatsoever.

Still driving to work every working day. Cannot see family. No football, no racing, no pubs, no restaurants. No social life. Endless bizarre rants from Fordy

Its been bloody awful.

 

It’s created a number of positives for me. Working from home is great for my work life balance - My company is based near Birmingham. I usually WFH on a Friday but i’m away Monday to Thursday. I’ll be WFH for a while yet but once the dust settles i’ll be doing at least 2 days from home and as a business I expect our running costs to decrease as more people do the same and we’ll have less need for travel. So my travel and accommodation costs have come right down. I’m also spending less by not being able to do much. We’re reconnecting as a family - little things like having an evening meal together every night, at the dinner table have become staple again. I’ve had more time for the kids - i’ve actually found the time to teach my lad to ride his bike, which is overdue. My kids have wanted a dog for a couple of years and we’ve never done it, but on the basis of us having more time at home going forward we’ve taken the plunge - time will tell whether thats a good thing or not!! I’m at the pub less (well, not at all), gambling less - neither of which were a problem, but its been good to have a reset. We’ve sorted a number of things round the house and garden that we’ve been putting off and we’ve made a conscious effort to connect with wider family members we don’t speak to often. We’ve had much more conversation over the garden fence with neighbours too.

Not to be glib, because I know that many people have had severe impacts and had to make genuine sacrifices, so take this in the spirit its intended, but for my family we’ve been very lucky. We’ve had far more positives than negatives.

No unexpected visits from folk.

 

My first monthly bill from Virgin Media since they suspended payment for the sports channels is nearly £50 less than usual

Iv'e been a practicing social distancer my entire life so it suits me down to the ground lol

Been doing all my welding in the comfort of my own home and not having anyone breathing down my neck has been a joy.

Great excuse for getting out of plans

 

Still going into work full time. No traffic is great.

 

I’m not really missing sport at the minute either, surprisingly.

 

I’ve got a new found respect for toilet paper and adopted some new techniques.
