wrt Collins- this could make him or break him. If he can learn from this relatively short experience and add that to his "knowledge" he should be able to carry on somewhere as a coach in relatively good stead.

Come on guys it's hardly the end of the world the vast majority were saying Micheal Collins was out of his depth and now he has gone some are felling sorry for the guy.
Right or wrong Edin has given the next man a chance to turn us around as a club and possibly get a bit more positivity into the club and give the fans a lift, which is what we want as fans, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, unfortunately.

Interesting that his wiki page has david hopkin as a former head coach at livingston and not manager, which fits in with the announcement on city's website that it will be another head coach.

Don't you feel a little sorry for him though? It always felt like it would be too much for him but he was never going to say 'no', was he.

I agree the lad was put into a no win situation, so yes he has my sympathy up to a point, he could not really have turned it down and stayed employed by Edin, as I asked I wonder if he will be offered his old job back ?, possibly along with Drury.
During my working life I was made redundant twice and it's a hard pill to swallow, but hopefully his agent got him a good severance payout.................assuming he has an agent.

I thought I would feel sorry for him but he came across very arrogant in his interviews and I could never warm to him

Good luck to him for the future. Judging by the universal love in from anyone who came across him as a youth coach he's probably not going to find it hard to get another job in that field. Unfortunately, it seems that whilst he may have been great at developing individual players, he was not as good when it came to taking 11 players turning them into a unit capable of playing well and winning matches.

The bloke is a serial flip flopper, lurching from one promise and style/ethos to a completely different one....................then back again, it's all complete bollocks and this latest in a long line of about turns is not filling me with confidence.

I've not once criticised Collins, I just felt sorry for him, he had to take the job, chance in a million an all and he is well qualified, he does know football but it was never going to work and he was well and truly shafted, like Doyle, like Killa, like umpteen staff, the club has got to start treating people decently.

Yes...no...yes...no... It clearly was too big a job, too soon. He didn't help himself though with his choices of line-ups and formations, in-game management, and dealings with the press. (Nor with his choice to drop Kilgallon, which I see Parker writes was indeed his deliberate choice.) Inexperience can help explain some of the mistakes, but he should have picked things up from his long-enough career as a player, not to mention from Abbott.

Still, it was a rather brutal introduction to management in the professional game: 6 league matches, 7 total; our shortest-ever tenure for a permanent manager (er, coach). So on balance, yes, a little sorry, and on balance, less criticism should fall on him than on the man who put him into a position he just wasn't ready for.

Yer, it actually makes me more sad that our club will forever have on its record that we appointed a young, rookie coach, gave him a few games and then sacked him. I just hope in the future we can put it down to 'those few years of Edin madness' because I would like to believe that our club isn't the type to kick out a manager after half a dozen games.

We might not like to be known as a Club who kicks out a Coach/ Manager after half a dozen games but my god it had to happen!

Lets quit the sympathy stuff. He took the job because it was carried away with the offer and he couldn't refuse it. Less giddy excitement and a little more forthought would have told him that the role was way beyond him at this early stage in his coaching development and he would have politely refused.

As it stands his over-eagerness has probably set back his senior coaching aspirations a good way and he will have to content himself with a more junior role within the game once again.

Hopefully he's learnt something from all this and importantly trying to be too clever too soon along with over-confidence and a certain arrogance definitely doesn't pay.

Still that's MC done and a very unsatisfactory 77 days in BCAFC history firmly consigned to room 101.

We move forward as Hoppy's Army from here!

Well I was surprised to hear this news last nignt. Surprised because I thought The owners wouldn't sack him so soon, as it would be admitting, what every fan knew at the time he was appponted, that they made a huge mistake in the first place.

Fair play to the owners, I suspect Rupp is behind this though, now let's hope Rahic can start to undo all the nonsense and mistakes he has made and leaves the new manager to actually manage and bring his own team with him to assist

I was more or less certain they would sack him yesterday. When you throw nearly all of the 1st team under a bus, and take no responsibility yourself the situation is almost untenable. He was heavily influenced by Rahic, and it was a massive mistake. I was less certain of who would replace him, I thought Abbo to take over while we go and recruit. However, I think a Rupp has re-written the job description as I don’t think Hopkin would be here otherwise. I think he will walk if the interference continues. Collins was not ready for this massive step, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. He may never be a senior team coach, but he can move on, and use this as a learning experience in more ways than one.
