All well and good saying this, but I've been a season ticket holder since the early 90's and i've still yet to see any home fan being confronted by a steward for anything other than filming on a mobile phone. At the end of the day most stewards are simply there for the bit of money they get paid and don't give a hoot about safety/rules etc. For instance, you can always smell & see smoke coming from the top of the toilet cubicles but stewards look the other way

With regards to the netting at the front of the kop - I can't believe fans actually want to sit there anyway, given the issues when it rains. I can't think of a worse place to sit (except behind Charlie obviously )

 

Fans get smoke bombs into stadiums, but on Saturday my lad, who is T1 Diabetic, got the 3rd degree at Scunny about his blood sugar tester, kit & insulin pen off a Steward. May be better trained stewards & approach throughout all clubs would be a starting point.

 

God how bad was the atmosphere on Saturday. It was truly dire, albeit not helped by the cold and the turgid football.

 

I'm sure the players appreciate the tens of thousands spent on security.

 

At Rochdale away last season when we 4-0 two lads were spoken to by the police right in front of me but not arrested but it's been getting out of hand for past 18 months.

 

As long as it's safe, ie, exclusive, ie, exclusionary, ie, as long as the kids are in a galaxy far, far away from those who can watch a game of football without having to pretend they're at a Dinamo Zagreb-Hajduk Split game.

 

O'Donnell looked particularly cheesed off when the flare landed, turned round and threw his arms in the air

 

Just a load of p!ssed up empty heads taking their frustrations out on the stewards. It started next to the tea bar when one of them got booted out then carried on in the terrace just behind the goals. My opinion is if you can't handle the ale then don't bother, but each to their own and all that

 

I think that video clip proves there are a lot of older heads well in the mix too. It isn't just the "yoof" giving us a bad name

I watched the incident on Saturday. The head steward dealt with it well, he told the bald steward, who seemed to be the problem, to leave that area which he did. Calmed down straight away when he left. Easy to recognise our fecknuggets though, they're always off their tits any time i see them at an away game.

They're not really interested in making pyros viable, they're just cool and a little bit nawty, lighting them is frowned on so gets the adrenaline pumping.

You aren't going to see a campaign from these lads to make pyros legal or acceptable, because the second it was acceptable I doubt they'd have any interest.

 

If you think it through, one of the biggest problems with generating smoke at crowded events is desensitisation. One day, there WILL be a fire - and people will not run. This is why there are often many unnecessary deaths at fires in concerts and nightclubs. People think the early signs of fire are just part of the special effects and they realise the seriousness of their situation too late.

 

Wait till they start banning us taking sleeping blankets and pillows in.

 

That is likely just their club policy and is carried out every game rather than increasing checks for us specifically

 

I have no feeling toward flares either way but the article does hit on a good point regarding atmospheres at premiership grounds. Just watching Chelsea Spurs, might as well be at the cinema, everyone sat down all very regimental and rather dead. There's very little going on in the crowd with way the game has been sanitised in this country, when you go abroad as i have a few times the atmosphere is completely different.
